2016 Model?
Hey all - I was wondering if anyone here knows of when(I'd just like a guess from someone experienced with car releases) you think the 2016 model will come out?
Just looking at car news sites, I noticed they're updating the interior so that the screen/cluster are merged and both digital just like the new S-class. Looks incredibly sexy and really interested in it.

As for the update, I doubt it would be anytime soon and definitely not MY16.
the BMW F30 which was released in 2012 in AUS (Dec 2011 in Europe) and still hasn't released an LCI yet, almost 4 years later.
I would be surprised if we saw an MB LCI before 2017...

Can you share more information, will the update be for 2016 model?. All pictures of the C450 AMG do not show any updates. Perhaps mid-life refresh (only mentioning it because it is a 2016 model designation).

2019 would be the normal timeline for a LCI, but just changing the dash would be a minor change that will bring in the buyers that the "ipad-ish" thingy has already turned away.

Based on my research just now.. the 2016 A205 (drop top) and C205 (Coupe) aren't due to be released in Europe until December this year, so as history has it, Australia won't see this until the end of 2016
If you have a look at the interior of the testing A205 and C205... still very much both W205 inside with the floating iPad.
Did your dealer actually have brochures on the new interior, or was it just the spy shots that we have all seen online recently... I am thinking the latter.

Most likely for the 2017 or later. My dealer rep said he only was presented a mock-up of the proposed design change to address the iPad looking display like many customers have criticized.

I have no inside information but this spy shot shows a different head unit in the 2018 model.

I wouldn't like to see the screen on the current W205 revert to an integrated screen. I have used one for a while now and I find it exceptional from a user perspective. Whilst initially it can be visually jarring compared to an integrated screen, after time, the ease of use far outweighs any design quirks. I am quite particular when it comes to visual design and the best design is a design that works, and works well- if something looks good but doesn't function optimally, then it's just not good design. I recently had a loaner for a few days, 2014 SLK, with an integrated screen and it really highlighted to me the benefits of the new iPad like screen:
Larger, clearer, great for navigation, higher on the dash equates to less attention diverted from the road- so safer. Having got used to it I also thinks it works well aesthetically.
I have heard the occasional opinion that the new screen is a deal breaker for some people. I wonder if that is a reaction to the "shock of the new" rather than based on use of the product.
I would be interested to hear from other owners who have come from an integrated screen to the new screen and their thoughts.
Edit- apologies, looking back to the beginning I think I have gone off topic

The photo looks like they built a test mule for the same upper dash layout that will be in the new E class. The photos of the upper dash look identical. The dash to me looks too conservative for a production model c class. Time will tell. Nobody here knows.

MB W204, VW Polo, Audi R8 V10 - SOLD.
There was talk of this being spyshots of a mock up for the driverless model, hence the red panic button in the centre console. Or as kellens has mentioned this may be the mule for upcoming models like the E. There is thread discussing these spyshots on this forum.

I'll break it down into smaller words for you.

It's better if you had just said that you don't believe that MB would put such high quality tech in the little C class. Because that is a C class in the picture with tech that comes directly from the S class. I would be surprised too tbh. Maybe a watered down version of those screens will appear in the C class.
But that is the same interior that is in your car in the picture.

Guys.. the dashboard being wrapped up in a towel with foamy bits exposed is a good indication that this is not even close to being a production car. Not to mention that butt-ugly eject-button in place of cup holders.

I hope the eject-button will become standard... Loves the look. Maybe it will be used to eject an unwanted passenger or two.

The Start/Stop button is used to shut off the Distronic plus (if needed).
That car was being used to test the next generation of Distronic plus that will debut in MY2017 cars. It is supposed to be fully autonomous or pretty close to it. That is why the driver is only guarding the steering wheel and not actually driving the car in the pictures.

so just because they got rid of the terrible iPad thingy the w205 interior becomes too conservative?
