I ordered my car with the 19" wheels that came with the summer PZeros. About 2 weeks ago I had my dealer in NJ remount them with sottozero run flats. The dealer remounted/balanced them for free and will store my PZeros for no charge.

As for the sottozeros--they performed masterfully in the most recent blizzard last week where we got 25-30" of snow. Obviously you had to drive with a soft foot and with care--but no issues what so ever.

Tire rack can order the tire for you. On their website they are not listed (sold out) but just call. I spoke to a representative and they simply ordered them--wait time was 4-6 weeks. I paid ~$1250 for 4 tires (staggered fit). Price might be a bit more now but well worth it imo.

I posted earlier in this thread that my C450 with a production date of 1/25 actually showed up at the dealer on 1/22 at the beginning of our DC Blizzard. Roads finally got clear enough to go pick it up, so today I had an appointment to get the car. Turns out they had to dig it out of a lot of snow to get it ready for me today. Apparently, the lot boys they use to do this kind of thing don't realize that you shouldn't use a shovel to get the snow off the car.

Windshield has a couple of chips and a long (maybe 18 inches or so) scratch, and will need to be replaced. Hood has a handful of scratches, maybe an inch or so long each, down to the primer.

The dealer has been fantastic about everything. They didn't try to hide anything and admitted the problem. I ordered another car, unfortunately new delivery date is now mid-April. The dealer thinks they can get the scratches fixed to the point that I won't be able to see them without a full hood repaint, and would replace the windshield (I told them the replacement would need to be factory, with the signature, not aftermarket) and offered a bit of a discount to take the car after repair. We'll sleep on their offer tonight and decide to accept the discount or wait until April for the car.

I'd obviously get to see the paint repair before accepting delivery if we decide to move forward with the car on the ground. That said, I'm not thrilled with the windshield replacement on a brand new car, who knows what trouble that leads to down the line with leaks or other issues.

Again, the dealer has been great and I believe laid out fair options. They also offered to get me a similar car from anywhere in the country, but there doesn't seem to be anything available with the options we ordered. I'm thinking we'll be waiting until April.

I hope you did not accept delivery like that...

No I did not accept delivery. Another order was placed for arrival mid-April. I will either wait until then, or ask them to fix the car, and if it is fixed to my satisfaction, I can purchase it with an additional discount they have offered.

At this point, I don't believe the additional discount they have offered is enough to deal with a repaired car. From the dealer's side, they can probably fix it and sell it to someone off the street who didn't know about the damage for more than what I negotiated in the first place, so their incentive to throw lots of money at the problem isn't great, but I appreciate that they offered something and ordered another as well.

Well, in many states you'd have to disclose those repairs, and the car has further depreciation: I'd say any deal but a steal is no deal.

Most states have a percentage of MSRP that the damage would be (often 5 or 6 percent) before the dealer is required to disclose to the buyer. In Virginia, where this vehicle is, it is actually only 3%. However glass and tires are excluded from the 3%. Without the cost of the windshield in the 3%, the dealer basically has almost $1900 in "retail" repair costs to spend on fixing the hood, which should be easy for them. Thus, no disclosure required for the next customer...

225/45/R18 for all four tires as per MBs recommendation. When it comes to winter tires, it's not necessary to go with a staggered set. You'll save a couple bucks this way as well, and still have the option of rotating them (assuming your rims are also the same offset).

I ordered the AVW863BGM and went with Michelin X-ice Xi3. I'm in Edmonton, and I can tell you, you definitely don't want to be on those PZeros in the winter. Driving the vehicle home and then to Costco (to have the tires mounted) was not fun. Braking on ice...you continue to slide even at low speed.

I can confirm that the offset will clear the front brake calipers which seem to be the most common issue with aftermarket rims. I decided to go with the same offset for all four so that I can still rotate the tires. If you decide to go with different offsets for the front vs rear, check out 18 rims between the Audi S4 and S3 from the same site. I think they have a couple styles that come in different offsets.

Good luck and enjoy the car.

P.S. The ride is so much softer with winters vs. the 19" PZeros.
I thought the 19" tire options came with Continentals from the factory - is there more than one option or were your PZero's swapped by the dealer?

I wasn't aware that I had any options when it came to the tires. When I upgraded to the 19" rims, they came with the PZeros from the factory. I think in Canada, MB only provides Pirelli's for their vehicles.

The C450 I test drove (in NB, Canada) with the 19 inch multispokes had Conti's on it.

Before we ordered the C450 we also test drove a BMW xdrive 435i gran coupe. It was a very smooth and responsive vehicle, nearly as quick as the C450. The exhaust notes from the 4-series BMW were very subdued. It growls a little when very heavy acceleration is applied. We were very fond of this vehicle and it was a very close runner up to the Mercedes. If the C450 exhaust really turns you off, you should give the 435 a look.

Different strokes for different folks. I love the exhaust notes of the C450. But if some of you don't, who am I to judge another man's taste?

I just attended the Philly Auto Show and I have sat in the 340i and it only proved to me that I made the best choice by purchasing the C450. The interiors of the new 340i was lacking in every way. I felt like I was sitting in a car from the 90s, my 2001 GS300 had a better interior than the new 3-series. The dashboard gauges looked like they were cardboard cutouts with home-made construction paper pins as gauge needles. And don't let me start on the leather, my Honda Accord had better pleather than the BMW. Speed-wise it might compete neck and neck with the C450 but with BMW reliability issues it might not even last in a race to 50K miles with the Benz without a hiccup

Shopping for air filters...Not sure if this is a Type-O or not but I found this;

C45 AMG?

Just to add more to this, that is the part # for the C450's filters.

This is exactly why I got rid of my 328 early and never looked back. It was like getting into a honda civic with less tech and a rattly diesel engine every day.

I'm undecided about break in procedures, but comparing a diesel to a turbo gas engine is apples to oranges.
