Does anybody know how to turn off these lights?
I turned off all the lights and locked the car, but it seems like the driver's side headlights and taillights are still on. Is this normal? Anybody knows how to turn them off?

It is also the only way to turn off your headlights at night when the car is parked and running.
Just don't forget to turn them back to auto when you get out or they will drain your battery overnight.

The owners manual says that the parking or standing lights will turn off automatically as the battery is drained so that the car can be started next time. I'm not sure I would depend on that though.
From the owners manual:
Parking lamps
If the battery has been excessively discharged,
the parking lamps or standing
lamps are automatically switched off to
enable the next engine start.

I said "Just don't forget to turn them back to auto when you get out or they will drain your battery overnight."
Then you posted exactly what I said from the owners manual "If the battery has been excessively discharged"
Are you saying that excessively discharging your car battery for no reason is an ok thing to do and you shouldn't worry about leaving your lights on?

If your the last vehicle in a row of parked cars on a dark street the parking lights will prevent you from being hit from behind, especially if close to an intersection.

It is a feature for European small roads BUT is also a flaw on some Mercs, like mine, to randomly switch the RH parking lights on or even flicker. It has nothing to do with the SAM or some other electronics, it will cost you a new light switch and it Oz that is a AU$500 disaster.
It may pull out easily or it may be extracted via the panel on the LH side.
