Is there an "ON" button for the trackpad?

Is there an "ON" button for the trackpad?

The only time I have an option to use the trackpad is with entering phone numbers under "Telephone". I have no option to use the trackpad anywhere else, such as to enter destinations under "Navigation" or write text messages or select names in "Messages". The little trackpad icon doesn't even show up to be selected.

Do I have to turn it on somehow?

It's always active and can be used for all the same functions that the wheel is used for. You can click it, swipe it, zoom in and out, etc. There is an online COMAND manual as well as an IOS and Android app that you really should review to become familiar with the functions of the pad.

sometimes you have to click the main touch pad button so that it knows that you want to input text

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I've read through all the manuals so that's why I was surprised when it didn't work for me. I gotta say, the manuals are somewhat lacking.

There's always the possibility of a defective unit. If you can't get it working right, just let your dealer test it for you.

vancity604: what do you mean by the main button? Are you referring to "ON" button?

I was referring to jbbeauso's recommendation. Basically just pushing down on the track pad once before I start to write.
