How are your brake calipers holding up?
I would think for a car with only 1,200 miles they shouldn’t be fading away like this
And I never use any harsh chemicals to clean the wheels! Just a good quality ICE wash and wax car care soap and some warm water.

I thought exactly the same thing when I washed my car, funnily enough also with about 1200 miles on the clock.
I can't understand why they aren't lacquered?

This was the first thing I painted on our car, the sport brakes are awesome, but the finish on them is unfortunately just a raw finish. I did mine in a custom dark grey and applied our company decal and logo and then applied a clear coat so the decal is sealed as well as the paint.
We do this process with the brakes on the car, we removed the pads and some other hardware and then we mask everything and paint them...we did the front and rear. It is almost an all day job, but it looks amazing when it is done. The process can be done in any color and you can apply any decal or logo.
Attached are a couple pictures of our calipers before and after, and the before shot is with only 160 miles on the car, so I think the rough finish on the stock calipers is just going to look worse as times goes on.

Automotive paint...we use quite a bit of factory colors that are mixed and then a clear coat is added. The finish is durable and the clear coat keeps the logo or decal from lifting or peeling.
I have done this for a few Dealer cars we built and the finish has been long lasting, have not had a car come back for redo or peeling...have a few out there that were done back in 2012.
