Not sure there's a solution other than turning the ignition off prior to unlatching your seatbelt. It drives me nuts too.

If you have the easy load boot/trunk(electric) then the boot button on the drivers door will open and close it electrically. I normally do this as most of my friends try to close it manually and encounter resistance.

Pull the boot down manually with giving it a slight yank and then it self closes.

When using flappy paddles hold in the shift up paddle (may work for shift down as well) for a couple of seconds and it goes back into automatic mode

Did you know that that the 19" AMG wheels with High Performance tires can survive a 1/4 inch nail? Took a chance and pulled it out. Tire stayed at 34 PSI all around. Phewwww I dodged a bullet on this one!

If that happened to me I would leave it in and claim a new tire under my rim and tire protection package. I would never trust that tire at speed so you may want to consider getting an opinion from a tire guy or your service department.

Also, with wear, that puncture may re-open.

I didn't purchase the tire protection package but I will bring it in to MB. I would hate to have to replace a tire with only 1,400 miles on it, but it is what it is. Luckily most if my driving is local.

Discount Tire will fix it for free and while your at it I'd buy the free replacement certs on all your tires.

Did you know that....

a) electro-chromatic rear view mirror and drivers side mirror only. Passenger mirror is non dimming.. first car I have encountered this in.

b) if you are in a screen other than the media screen, it takes a few button presses and pokes to skip the current track. No single Track FWD and PREV button.

c) If you are washing your car with your keys in your pocket, even the slightest amount of water on the handles repeatedly locks and unlocks the doors.

d) That you can't display album art in larger size, (or split screen)

e) If you option the non-essential Air-balance fragrance system (which is awesome by the way) the glovebox becomes completely useless. No matter how much I twist and bend the vehicle manual and books, nothing fits in there.

f) the air vent on the interior cover of the sunroof is the widest spaced vent I have ever seen, so even when the cover is fully closed the sun shines straight into my eyes.

Theres things don't make me like the car any less, not at all... just little oddities I keep discovering...

What else have people discovered.

According manual:
Calling up quick access for audio

Use two fingers to touch the lower part of the touch-sensitive surface.
1.Glide your fingers up.
2.Quick access is displayed.
To select the previous or next station/music track: glide to the right or left.
1.The selected station/music track is played.

You can also open and close the trunk with the remote by holding the trunk button down.

When opening - Tap the button briefly to stop the boot lid mid-way at any stage.

Not so much a "Did You Know" but a "Does This Happen"?!

With some warmer weather in the UK over the last week, I've been driving with the sunroof raised at the trailing edge.

When I reach 50 mph, I'm sure I can hear the sunroof motor engage and the sunroof seems to close slightly and then open again when the speed drops below 50 mph.

Anyone else noticed this? There is nothing in the manual about it.

It's mentioned on page 102 of the Operator's Manual:

Only for vehicles with panorama roof with power tilt/sliding panel:
WARNING
At high speeds the raised sliding sunroof automatically lowers slightly at the rear.

Yeah I already knew that however I still find it annoying that as car design and technology has progressed throughout the years, having audio controls on the steering wheel to flick to the next track was standard on even the most basic cheapest vehicles for many years.

Having to remove your hands from the steering while, to swipe up, then flick across seems to me like it was almost an after thought.

Just click in the middle menu button on the touchpad and swipe left or right for track forward or backward...

easy enough and you don't have to take eyes off the road.

Thanks DBOC205! I downloaded the PDF to have a look. I previously looked at the Android version of the C Class manual and I cant for the life of me see any mention of it.

Thanks again. I can stop trying to drive with one eye on the sunroof now

Huh I thought I was going crazy. I believe that you can manually raise it back up to the higher level with the button. At times it seems like when I open the sunroof to vent it opens a little, and then with another touch it opens more, but other times it doesn't. Now I know that it's speed dependent. Great thread!

Agility setting affects cruise control. With distronic+, car will break and speed up much more aggressively in sport then in comfort/eco modes.

With everything on the same lever (lights, turn signals, wipers), it took me a couple of tries to realize a deep press is for windshield washer fluid.

Reading this thread make's me realize a lot of salesmen are skimping on their jobs. Delivery of the car shouldn't be a 2 minute thing.

Do you know what, I was appalled at how quickly I was in and pushed out of the dealership with my new $90,000 car... I reckon the whole process from the point of arriving, to sitting in the drivers seat and leaving the dealership was less than 15 minutes in total.. I know a fair bit about cars and spent a fair bit of time researching the W205 during my 5 month wait for delivery, but I was still left with a lot of unanswered questions..

One absolute classic line from the salesman was " We haven't sold a W205 yet so I don't know much about it, be sure to email me the ins and out of it once you get the hang of it"..... I kid you not...

My salesman offered to come to my house about 2 weeks after I took delivery. He was willing to go over anything after I had a chance to get used to the car.

It was close to closing time when I walked out of the dealership with my car and my sales man gave me three options: we could go over the car right then in there, he could have their tech guy come out to my house and go over all the details in full, or I could just leave and go over it myself and call if I had any questions. I chose the last option and really haven't had too many questions and the ones I've had I found answers to online pretty easily.

I've also had the experience of having a sales guy spend almost two hours with me going over the ins and outs of a new car. In the end I like getting to know the car on my own, for me it's part of the fun of getting a new car.
