Timing Chain Tensioner Recall - Bluetec Diesel (UK)
It's my first post here on these wonderful forums since collecting my W205 back in February! I thought I'd post this up as a bit of a heads-up just in case people were unaware as I haven't found much around the web for this as yet.
Since collecting my W205 (UK 64-plate C250 Bluetec AMG Line Premium Plus in Palladium Silver) I've noticed that there is a very subtle lateral movement of the steering wheel occasionally when putting lock on the steering. Only very slightly but enough to notice it's there. When looking up the problem online I see that there is a steering column coupling lock recall out from VOSA as below:

When I called Mercedes to check if this had been done on my vehicle they informed me that there were 2 outstanding recalls on my car - one was indeed the steering column coupling but the other is for a timing chain tensioner renewal. I used to have a Mini Cooper S which suffered with timing chain tensioner issues (luckily mine was replaced before any ill effects were felt) and if they seize up and the chain jumps it could potentially write off the engine.
I can't find anything online regarding this for the W205 as yet and it's not been issued through VOSA currently so whether this is about go out to owners shortly I'm not sure - just thought I'd give you the heads up on the potential issue (unless it's already well known and I'm late for the bus ha ha!)

EDIT: Actually I've just managed to locate it on VOSA - it looks to be an oil sealing ring on the chain tensioner assembly:

Oh well ha ha! Still, hopefully this might prove useful to someone as I was unaware of either of these before.

Cheers!
