wheel curb rash

I was in a hurry and stupidly scrape my tire and wheel along the curb. I have the 18" twin 5 spoke wheel. The rim repair perso nis telling me that it is machine finish so the cost is $200, if it was painted would have been only $120.
I only had the car for a month and want to fix it asap.
Does anyone know how much is a new replacement rim?
If it's $400-500 I may get a new one and keep this scratched one as a backup.

Can the tire pressure sensor be used again? If not, that's another expense you'll have to add to the cost of a new wheel. Most wheel repair shops can do an excellent job, so that might be the most practical route.

I had curb rash fixed on my 19 inch multispoke black with polished surfaces AMG wheels. The repair was very good, but not perfect. You can't notice it unless the wheels are very clean and you're really looking for it.

I have a tire and wheel protection package, so it didn't cost me anything. The price for the repair on the invoice was $150. The dealer said the wheels cost about $1,200 to replace. Interestingly, when I bought the tire and wheel protection package, they told me the wheels cost $1,800 each. In any case, the wheels are expensive to replace and the repair is quite good.

Did you have to pay the 150 or covered under protection?

It was paid by the plan. Shortly after the repair, the tire on the same wheel was damaged by a pot hole. The plan covered the more than $400 tire replacement cost.

The price of $200 seems a bit expensive. I had all 4 19" inch alloys done on my R8 about a year ago for less than £300 if I recall correctly. They were diamond cut (aka machine finished). They came back looks great. Perhaps it's more expensive where you are?

About a year ago, a local alignment shop managed to deeply score 3 of 4 wheels on my Porsche. I decided to have them repaired and found all the prices were in the $100 to $150 range per wheel. I think the pricing is very market dependent, where greater competition yields lower prices. I've seen posts on various forums where repairs were being done for $60 per wheel, but I never found any pricing like that here.

I wound up having it done through my Porsche dealer, since the pricing was the same and I had better recourse if the work was not satisfactory. They used the same wheel repair shop that handles all their used cars, many of which show some degree of curb rash. When I got the car back, I first thought they had forgotten to have the work done. When I looked closer, I could find no trace of the gouges that the alignment shop had put in. It was impossible to tell that any work had been done.

I have such damage on my current car, an Alfa Romeo Giulietta with 18 inch 8c wheels. I'm thinking of getting Alloygator protection for my C220 tough.
