Random beeps??
Hi all
I have encountered something with the car that I imagine is a feature I am unaware of..
Randomly as I am driving I will hear two beeps and something flashes red on my instrument cluster very quickly.
It has happened 3+ times since I got the car (2weeks) and I still can't seem to figure out what it's trying to tell me!
I thought maybe it has to do with Blind Spot Assist? But the light on the side mirrors does not come on...
Two of the times I noticed it happening as I was accelerating.
Any ideas?
Thx.

Collision Prevention assist. Its supposed to happen when a crash is possible. However mine is also a little sensitive and fires a bit randomly at times.

Funny you should mention this, mine has done it twice now, on the same round-about entering into my street. My first thought was the BSM going off?

I don't mind it and the blind spot assist is great. I don't have the distronic- my commute involves a lot of highway driving, not a lot of bumper to bumper stop and go.

Having lived with the car a while now I think I would have liked the nanny pack as I call it.. However I still wouldn't buy it as I just don't trust it.

Yes . I expect the next 5 years will see a lot of the glitches ironed out, still pretty cutting edge at the moment- the next issue is about cars making ethical decisions.

It's very difficult to test with real obstacles. It's like playing chicken with the car's systems to see how long you are willing to wait for the system to activate; knowing that if it doesn't, you will crash. Not recommended. It has however worked for me in slow traffic for a car that stopped quickly in front of me.
All it has to do is prevent one rear end collision and it's worth the expense.

Looks like I'm not the only one. I noticed it going off near railroad tracks, not all the time since I drive over those tracks daily. Not sure why it would randomly fire off like that.
