Read the the press release and you will see all the C63 content that goes into the C 450 AMG, about the money?, of course it's about the money, everything Mercedes and every other manufacturer sells is about the money.

I can just hear it already. Hey, what do you drive, Answer; Oh I drive an AMG.
Tell me how MB is following Audi? While BMW and MB is putting AMG and M badges on everything Audi RS cars are pretty exlusive. While Audi sales are second to BMW worldwide the RS cars are the most exclusive of the three brands because Audi does not make a bunch of them like BMW and MB do.

The reason they don't make a bunch of them is because not many people want to buy them, Audi, just like Mercedes is a for profit company and would love to increase RS sales, S sales too.

What are the chances of one being able to order one in August and get a good discount on it?

Anyone have experience ordering new models right at launch and still getting decent deals? To me, the C400's are not selling that well so I think that may sway dealers to discount a bit on the C450... but I guess it will depend on demand for it...

Any ideas? My current lease is up end of October, so ordering one in August would probably come in just in time... I will not pay MSRP or over...

The best I could "pre-negotiate" so far was MSRP - my dealer MB of San Jose expects (or wishes) very high demand for this model. It is a waiting game for now, but because the "regular" C class is getting so many accolades and is selling very well, don't hold your breath for that discount. IMO the big discount days are over .

I hope, for my sake, that you're wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised if you were right.

That being said, I'm pretty sure that dealers would not want to pre-negotiate too early - dealers always like to negotiate when it's time to pull the trigger - they don't want to give you time to shop around or start a bidding war with another dealer. They also probably don't want the word going out so early that they are already discounting cars that aren't even available to order yet...

My thinking is inline with yours, the "pre-negotiation" was done like a gesture of good faith in his part since I am bringing two cars in for service, etc. mind you this is for one of the first allocations from them, so MSRP to have the newest toy is probably right, if one waits long enough there are sure to be some good deals.

There is an article with renderings at caranddriver.com that says AMG C Coupes will be strongly differentiated from the non-AMG versions. Wonder which body the C450 AMG Sport will get?.....

That makes no sense...

Audi has an S-Line trim that they put on almost all of their cars as sport trim package. Same as BMW with "M" and MB "AMG Sport trim" which I have on my c350.
Also, IIRC Audi only has 2 RS cars which are the RS5 and RS7 for the US market. Same can be said for Mercedes with the Black Series of AMG cars. Those cars are super rare too. If you look at the price gap between Audi's A cars vs. S cars, you will see that each of them are a $10k plus difference. Looks like Mercedes is going the same route.

Its getting the C63 body (for the most part), just not the TT 4.0 V8. It'll look more like a C63 than the W205 C63 will.

FWIW, every magazine that did an introductory drive this past month (June 2015 issues) LOVED the C450 AMG Sport and many preferred the ride and handling (plus the AWD capabilities) over the new C63 they also tested the same day. That tells ME a LOT!!

and smartly so. They are going to fill a large gap between the current C Class and the AMG C class. ITS a no brainer from a sales and marketing standpoint. The C450 is going to be closer to the C63 in both appearance and performance than the current C400 is. ADD AWD , excellent handling . sport appearance and more than adequate power and you've got a winner.

I feel amanuuh is right - it has to differentiate more than the C450 AMG Sport, as it is there are strong cosmetic differences between the C63s and C450 AMG Sport - front bumper cover, fenders, hood...

Still the C450 AMG Sport is sure to be a winner!

Amanuuh; how us your C63s, can you post pics, did you take delivery?

Yeah, 75-80 percent is my guess

A quote from Automobile Magazine on the C450 AMG 4Matic tested same day as C63, C63S:

"The C63's Amg designed front suspension, crafted largely of aluminum, essentially carries over into the C450, but goes a step further via the addition of 4matic all-wheel drive. Torque is split 33 percent front, 67 percent rear, delivering the lively handling dynamics of a rear-drive car with a measure of useful added traction up front.

Driven in the twisting moutain roads above the seaside town of Quinta do Lago, Portugal, the C450 feels like no kind of compromise at all. It seems lighter and nimbler than the V8 cars, the nose points with delightful quickness. The electromechanical speed sensitive sport steering offers the same sublime response as the C63, and thanks to the C450's reduced torque and 4Matic, it powers out of turns with absolutely no drama or threat of tail wagging. It's a blast to drive hard."

Is hand built the same as assembled by hand?

With that said and Kleemann tune @ 413 HP and 580Nm (428 lb-ft), this car will be fun to drive and total sleeper. Not to mention, add down-pipes, exhaust and other bolt-ons. I can't wait to get my hands on one.

[QUOTE=Will617;6419506]Then why not just tune a C400 and leave the AMG alone.[/QUOTEY

You get the c63 amg s or the c63 amg for the name and the few extra goodies it comes with. I mean the c400 is like 70% the same car, and if you have the money your not going to debate whether you want the c63 or the c400 You could tune it and make the c400 faster, but when I get mine I'm going to get the S version with the sport exhaust.

You also get the amg because it has the power and a warranty lol

Something you won't have with a tuned c400 necessarily

Apparently MB does not give a crap when they put the AMG badge. You could buy one and stick it on a VW or KIA or whatever... ha, ha
