Wheel surface treatments?

Is anyone else finding that the 2-tone black/alloy 19" AMG wheels seem to attract a whole heap of brake dust very quickly - not sure if it's the pads they use or what.

Has anyone got any recommendations for surface treatments, or tried any wonder products that keep them cleaner for longer?

I honestly don't see the brake dust all that much on the wheels themselves but I tell you what, this car has been the filthiest car I have ever owned. It seems like within a 1/2 a day after washing the car I've got black dust all over the lower sides of the car and the entire rear bumper. Since it's always black dust it seems to me it has to be brake/tire dust and not just normal dust/dirt in the air (even though I live in the desert). I got Polar White thinking that this would make it an easy car to keep clean as typically white doesn't show the dirt/dust in the air around here and yet this has been the hardest damn car to keep clean out of all the cars (various color ranges) I've owned in the past 10 years.

Yes, polar white here too, and lots of black dust in the same places as Chicagofan.

I'm very happy with how clean my car stays between washing's. No brake dust anywhere...not even on the wheels. But after a rain (not too often in California) it's definitely showing the effects.

Glad I'm not the only one that notices it or has the issue. It's making me a bit OCD on cleaning the car and it's only getting worse since it gets so dirty so quickly!

Gtechnig C5 is a very good wheel seal.

Lots of reviews and How to use videos on Youtube.

i have the black 19" AMG wheels on my Polar White Sport and never notice any brake dust on the wheels, but i do see it on my rear bumper and side skirts.

i park under a filthy tree that ****s all over my are with leaves and pollen so i bought a duster that i use to wipe it down almost every morning, so i hardly let the dust sit for too long

Yep, this. Then you only need water to clean them for about a year.

I used shields on my 2007 C280 (W203) on the front wheels for 8 years. (See the car below. I will get around to updating the photos to show my C300 some day.) They really helped. When I had to replace my brake pads, I got some aftermarket pads that made a light gray dust that was hardly noticeable. I know that shields are supposedly forbidden by Mercedes and some dealers won't work on your car if you have them. I noticed them on the wheels of the classic Mercedes belonging to the pres. of my MBCA section. He recommended them to me. They were sold to me by the VP of the section ($90 in 2007, minus 10% MBCA discount). He said he had seen only one case where they caused brake fade. That owner was an animal, who would go through brake pads in 9,000 miles! I live in eastern Mass., not the Alps. I live in an elderly housing facilty, where it is not easy to do more than just hose off cars.
