C300 spark plugs
Just reading thru the maintenance schedule and was really surprised that a modern engine would require 46,500 mile spark plug changes.

Emissions regulations, efficiency, quality of function and much more play a part here. Old engines didn't care about worn plugs but back then they didn't need to be as efficient and non polluting.

Here in the U.S. it's quite common to see 100,000 mile spark plugs in new vehicles...platinum tip or better.
Sounds like yet another ploy from Mercedes to increase profit for the dealerships.

If Ford, GM and Mopar can produce 600 horse power engines that meet emmissions and have 100,000 mile plugs you'd think that Mercedes could. Incidentally so does Lexus. I just don't like their cars.

Not only that, but Ford for instance designed their EcoBoost turbo engines to run on REGULAR...which is like 30 cents a gallon cheaper than the Super unleaded gas German autos require.
