Does anybody know how to install new door pins for the front seats?
Does anybody know how to install new door pins for the front seats? I ordered the aluminum AMG door pins and have had them for a month now, but I do not know how to install them. I only got door pins for the front doors, because I heard that the ones for the back doors cannot be installed unless you take off the door panel. Does anybody have a video or a guide on how to install them? Do you just twist them anti-clockwise?

I found it pretty simple to change the door pins over, just a pair of Pliers and cloth to avoid teeth marks .....

OMG I had the cheesy plastic door pins on my W204 in 2008 and to this day they still have not upgraded this ???
The interior is no doubt the leader in it's class IMHO however for MB to still be using the cheap door pins is really f**ked up !?!?

even on the C63s AMG its plastic
the interior is beautiful, aesthetically pleasing, and the best that I have ever seen.
IMO Better than Audi, BMW, Range Rover, and Lexus... Which is why I bought this car specifically

They look perfect. The brushed aluminum matches the one on the door panel. I like that its not shiny/chrome-like so it doesn't scratch easily. and if if did it would barely be noticeable.
I don't know why but for some reason the OEM AMG door pins are too short, so when I lock the door they disappear. The original plastic door pins were VERY long.
I just swapped the front two Door pins with the OEM AMG Door pins

I swapped out all four in my 2015 C400. All four are the same length, all four are threaded. They are very easy to swap out and all four sit flush when locked. I put a drop of threadlock when I installed them, lined up the "AMG" logo and let them dry for a few minutes. Now they are stuck good and lined up.

Did you do the rear?
Do you just twist them anti-clockwise with pliers?
did you get the OEM Part?
can show me what yours look like?

I used liquid threadlocker to keep them in place. It take a few minutes to dry so the locks don't easily rotate. With threadlocker, you could thread on your pins so they sit flush when locked. Yes, I lined up the AMG logo so that they are parallel with the windows. I used cheap Ebay pins. I will get some pictures tomorrow.

I think they look great and matches your interior perfectly !
Not for nothing the W205's all should come with these ...... it's that " attention to detail " that would make a difference.
Since them plastic pins are what we're getting instead ...... this should be one of the first mod for most IMHO !? But then again more than likely that 90% of the folks buying the car probably won't even notice ??

Are my eyes playing tricks on me? I just looked up the prices on genuine AMG door pins for the W205, and what I saw on the net was about $40 A PIECE!
If that's true, I wouldn't buy these pins on principle alone.

I found 2 Front OEM AMG door Pins for around $80
A Mercedes Benz dealership was selling them on eBay
I can give you the part number if you want
I pay attention to the tiniest details, because that's just me
You are gonna see a lot of little mods from me

As Victor Viper asked What do the door pins do other than indicate when that particular door is locked/ unlocked?

This is their only purpose. A quick visual identifier that your door(s) is/are locked or unlocked. Before central locking etc, they were long and used to lock or unlock doors without the need for the catch in the door. That was a long time ago and they've progressed to just being an indication of the lock state.
