THe dealer can fix it by thickening the woolen fabric on the door edge that are in contact with the window in order to reduce the space inside the door panel and window glass. This is to lessen the vibration that cause the noise. Hope this can help you....

Installing felt works for few weeks, and the rattle sound came back. Still have no solution on how to fix it. Any suggestion?

I don't understand how at "freeway" speeds a door could stay open 1/2 way.

One would think the force of the air rushing by the body of the car would keep it more or less in the closed position.

As far as the door opening on its own....... I am sure glad I have not had any of these type of issues.

Dealer had my car for 3 days to fix this issue. They re-glued the door and stuff but didn't give me any details. Here is the interesting/sad part:

The shop foreman told me it was the window tinting chemicals that caused the door glue to separate or break down and cause the rattling - this sounded dubious.

When I got the car back, the rattling was gone - so happy. BUT... later in the day i noticed that the door repair had put a rip on my tint during the repair.

So I had to take the car back to the tint shop (they were very nice and agreed to redo the tint for free) - I asked them about the tint chemicals and they said they only use steam and it should not affect any cars as they do many many Mercedes (its a high-end place that does 3M Crystalline)

A week later - the rattling is back! Not quite as bad as before but still annoying.

So, did the tint redo cause the rattling to come back or did it come back on its own? I am scared to take the car back to dealer now as I don't want them messing up my tint again or breaking something else in the process.

So for those who have the rattling: Is your car tinted? Did your rattle happen before tinting?

My last BMW was perfect and didn't have any of these annoying issues (wind noise, rattling, transmission hesitation, etc). Still love the car though...

Still didn't reach my dealer due to time constraints but I m trying to identify the conditions of this issue as in my case it is intermitent:
- it seems that above a certain speed sound disappears - 100 kmh
- it seems it is more likely to appair in temperature below 25 C
- true, if the window is dropped 1 cm sounds dissapears
- I never experienced the issue immediately after washing the car - might be due to dust that gets between window and its chrome trim ?

I need to understand more about the conditions before going to dealer and ask them to check - at least I need to reproduce the issue in front of them

Any inputs about the conditions I should check are appreciated . If the conditions above do not apply to you please let me know

Regards
Amo

visited my dealer today and asked them to apply the rubber lubricant on top of the window / door trim.

operation took 2-3 minutes and the noise is gone for now. no other operation has been performed on the car.

additional information checked by the local dealer: there is no internal procedure on solving this issue.

i'll keep you posted ...

HTH

SAME PROBLEM I FACING HERE IN MALAYSIA.
INITIALYL THEY USE THE RUBBER LUBRICANT , DRAMATICALLY IMPROVED, ALMOST TOTAL GONE OF THE RATTLING RUBBER SOUND.
BUT AFTER 4 MOTNHS SOUND CAME BACK AGAIN.
VISITED 3 TIMES TO THE DEALER AFTER THAT, CANT FOUND THE CAUSE AS THE RATTLING SOUND MAY NOT BE AUDIBLE TO ALL AND IT HAPPEN OCCASIONALLY.
LAST VISIT TO DEALER THIS AUGUST , CLAIM THERE IS NOTICE FROM MB GERMANY SITE REGARDING THE PROBLEM, THEY HAVE EXTRA PLASTER TO SEAL ON THE FABRIC RUBBBER OF THE DOOR PANEL, NOT SURE IF IT IS TRUE, STILL AWAITING THE STOCK TO ARRIVE.
MAY ASK YOUR MB DEALER IF GERMANY ISSUE THE PROBLEM . ( I THINK THIS IS GLOBAL OF W205 DEFECT)

Hi. My car also has this rattling noise. It appear when running over rough terrain that causes the body to flex. I had my dealer fixed it twice and both they referred to TSB from Germany. Both times, the sound was gone for a week and then come back. The funny thing though is that it comes back right after I wash my car. Could be that the lubricant they applied was washed out during the car wash.

Now I had similar experience with my last car (VW GTI). Apparently on the GTI, the rattle was caused by the felt lining on top of the door panel that rub against the metal body of the car. I solved it buy purchasing an anti-friction tape from BMW and applied along the car body that meet the felt lining (which is a real pain doing it myself). So the felt rub against the tape instead of the car body and the noise was gone. Had it for 4 years, and the noise never came back and the anti-friction tape still stays intact.

I haven't tried that on the MB though. Also the sound from the GTI was so much worse than the MB so I'm not sure if the cause of the noise is the same. Tried to get the dealer to perform their job first and if nothing fixes it, then I'd probably have to do this anti-friction tape trick.

My car has the rattle. And the front windows are up slower than rear windows when I close them up at the same time. - a sign of missing lubricant in the front.

They were quicker when I the vehicle was delivered.

Tons of W205 in China got this problem - and I should say almost all of them. I am in U.S. but I have this problem although recently improved after dealers got me acoustic glass which tighten the space between door seals and door (1mm extra thickness)

If you guys are from Malaysia, and you read Chinese, you can check these website out. Basically, the rattles come from the door rubber seal - It's making contact to the door - adding fluffy seals can avoid this. I ordered some seals from China and I will try this in late September. Before then, I will apply rubber lubricant in the same area as a temp fix.

Same problem started about a week ago

Driver side window rattles, it started about a week ago, when I first heard rattling, stopped the car in a parking lot, opened/closed driverside window and the door. I have been hearing rattles for about a week even on mostly smooth surfaces. Today I tried to push the "open pore black ash" panel on the door and tried to drive while pushing but no difference. I had rattles from the dash/behind the COMAND screen/center console and I used to push the black ash wood panel and the rattling would stop so figured try the same on the driverside door but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I've had mine to the dealer twice to correct the window creaking. They added some dressing to the rubber that the top of the window meets when closed. This seemed to work for about two days and the creak returned. They told me there is no permanent fix.

The creaking can also be replicated by pushing on the top of the interior door trim when the door is closed. Drop the window a bit and it stops. Open the door, and the sound can't be replicated. I assume therefore that the creak comes from the top of the door seals rubbing against the body of the car, though I can't figure out why the sound can't be replicated with the window open a bit.

I've read in other threads here that the door seal creaking can be addressed by silicone lubricant on the felt door seal.
