Rattling driver' side window glass
Around 3000 KM (in 4 months), mostly city driving (commuting), and some highways.
When driving slowly, 20-40 KM, going over tiny bumps/road imperfections,… the driver’ side window (fully closed) doesn’t seem to be closed firmly (I hear a slight rattling noise as if it’s not secured properly).
The sound, I think, is probably the window glass vibrating a bit – being not held firmly.
Possible causes (my theory), compared to the rest of the windows (same car):
· 1) Frequent use of the driver’s door (I drive mostly alone).
· 2) Going over road potholes/defects without paying attention (I'm not always careful, roads here in general are in good shape).
As the car is generally quiet, I find this squeaking (window glass moving) noise rather annoying.
Glass goes up and down flawlessly (no unusal noise).
Can someone please suggest where would the problem be? I’m hoping this is a quick fix (no new parts such as rubber/seals need to be ordered).
I intend to point out to the issue to the service guy; they have a special fast-lane option, where small issues could be fixed in half an hour (in and out quickly). This way I don’t have to leave it for like half a day.
Thanks a lot for your input

So is this a rattle or a squeak as you mention both? If a squeak then some rubber lube may fix that. If a rattle then its likely a component issue you'll need dealer help with.

What component would cause such noise? I imagine that overtime, such noises would come in any car, but not that soon, at least in a car of this category.

Agree about the lube, that should get around the noise. If the glass is moving, though, it could well be a broken retaining clip holding the glass on the lifter. Another reason to get you dealer to sort it out.

Is it this sound?
I have this on both driver and passenger side.
If I take the window down just a couple of millimeters the sound is gone.

I got the same problems. When the driver window is fully closed, I can hear the sounds and it is really annoying.
I had sent my car for services 2 times already. First time the guy said it comes from the locking mechanism in the door panel which they fixed, but the sounds still there. Second time, they suspected it is from the rubber seal around the door and the body. They had applied the specia rubber lubricant from MB which suppose to make the noises go away but they still there. It is by the cooncident that today, I drove with the window not fully closed, then I found the source of the problem.
I had left my car at the garage this afternoon and hope that they can finally fix the problem.
If anyone manage to fix this problem, can you share by reply to his tread? I got so many cars here in Thailand that has this problem with no solutions of fixing it.
Thanks.

My video is recorded after I picked my car up after service visit number eight with no progress.
My car had the exact same treatment at the workshop as you rcheenp, locking mechanism fix, special rubber lubricant. And they also adjusted the doors.

Mm that does sound more rattle than squeak meaning its more likely mechanical than the rubbers. Hard to tell for definite though. I get something similar with my panoramic roof now and then, Just open it and it goes away. I put a little rubber lube on it and that seems to have sorted it for now.

I parked outside overnight, and while it’s been raining for hours, the rattling sound has been significantly reduced (I don’t hear it anymore).
I wash the car every other week, is it possible that water has the same effect as the suggested lube? I tend to briefly drive with the windows open to get fresh air before turning on the AC.
It rains here often, and it appears to me that the issue surfaced while it was dry and sunny for a day or two.
Any thoughts on this?

I had the window problem, I took it back to the dealer with 4 weeks of owning from new.
If I dropped the window a bit to take the pressure off(not fully closed) the noise went. Both front windows were making a hell of a squeeking.
They fixed it I asked how? And they said new rubbers but who knows.
Never had the same problem on the back two but now getting a rattle somewhere on the front passengers seat that I can't find
Car is year old 18k miles

I get this problem too, but it is intermittent. I am thinking it might have to do with thermal expansion and contraction of some metal part in the door frame.

Me too
I just realized that I have this also. I previously thought is was some loose plastic rubbing but I just opened my window just a millimeter and the noise is gone.
Anyone in the US have their dealer fix this yet? I don't know if it is worth taking my car in for such a minor issue but it does bug me when I hear the noise every day.
