Smile Ordering soon, wait for MY16 or not?

I am ordering my W205 soon (within the next few weeks - dependant on the outcome of the thread.)

I have been browsing these forums for a few months just lurking, thought it was time to come out of hiding. I have seen "MY16" being mentioned here and there, with some poorly google translated document I struggled to follow explaining what appeared to be some changes.

But I wanted to know if anyone knows roughly when MY16 will be published (if it has already been released then apologies for my googlefu.) If it is to be released soon then I will delay ordering my car, if there may be some extra options available to me. I was hoping the "night pack" would become an option. So any advice on whether I should just crack on and order the car, or wait it out would be appreciated.

For those interested I am going for:
C300 AMG Line Prem Plus, Palladium Silver.

It is a company car so not ordering direct from MB (I am UK based.) My first "luxury" car. Have owned a Clio GT, and a Volvo C30 D5 so very much looking forward to the day I officially join the MB owners club as I have been waiting since the release of the W205 to put my order in.

Sorry for such a long first post! (I intend to get mucked in from now on.)

The primary reason for waiting for MY16 for the C300 specifically would be very minor incremental quality improvements that the factory might make between model years to fix some of the first year bugs that have been found.

Other than that I expect it would be very minor tweaks to packages, etc. I notice on the C450 for example the 2016 build sheet for the USA shows that Burmeister is now its own package (not bundled as any kind of premium package)... so it's possible similar changes can happen with C300.

I've been holding off to see what pricing is on C450 as that is the model that most interests me. If I was buying a C300 I probably would not justify waiting for MY16 at this point as my current lease is up in August and I will need a new car soon after that.

I should also mention that if you are ordering a custom build "in a few weeks" it might be a 2016 whether you prefer it or not as they might run out of build slots for the 2015s sometime later this month or early next month.

Is there any way of ensuring I am in the running for a MY16 build slot and if so does a MY16 literally mean I will not get my car until 2016?

Thanks for the input, still unsure. I'd rather wait if there will be quality improvements, but I also want to avoid any price increases.

They start building Model Year 2016 in the factory in July/August of 2015 depending on the factory.

You need to talk to a local dealer to see if you put an order in sometime in the next couple of weeks if they have a build slot for it in the "MY15" calendar.

Model year calendars indicate the week they start building models (example, June 2014) and the final week of production (example, June 2015).

It has nothing to do with the "year" in which you take delivery of the vehicle. It will just be titled as a 2015 or 2016 depending on when it was built and the build specs will change between model years.

Price increases of 1-2% a year are pretty typical and you also might be able to negotiate a better deal on a 2015 if you are willing to take one already on the lot... so if you are very sensitive to the price you might want to start shopping now for either a 2015 you order or a 2015 that's already in inventory.

I struggle getting anything from the dealers for a few reasons the main two being my age and the second (main reason) the fact they are not getting any business from me as I will be using my companies car scheme.

Unfortunately I'm quite set on what I want so it's a case of getting a custom build. Plus I am using my company car scheme so no negotiation I'm afraid (although I already get a fairly decent deal.)

MY16 C300
I don't know if this affects UK configurations, but in Canada, they're adding Intelligent Drive as an option to the C300 for MY 2016. It was only available on the C400 in 2015.

My main concern is build quality. I'm a bit worried about some of the posts relating to wind noise and was assuming if any changes were to be made they would be with the new MY.

No one can officially say until the new MY cars are in the dealers hands. If you are that concerned about it, then wait. It's only a few more months...

Personally I would wait to get MY16. Unless you get an amazing deal for The 2015 I can't see why you wouldn't go for the 2016

Do you reckon it's fairly soon they will be switching over to MY16? How will I know haha? Unfortunately I can't rely on a dealer to help me out.

From what I've heard (Nothing official) new orders start July/August. I know this was the case for Audi and bmw. I would assume it's the same for Mercedes. But I could be wrong.

Sorry. I really don't know. Your best bet would be to contact different dealers and see if anyone can give you the correct info. If I was you I would walk in as a "client" and pretend i want the 2016 model. See what they say.

The slk replacement slc300 is going to have it too.

For me I'm at least waiting to see what the 2016 comes with not to mention the c205 coupe . I'd bet by the coupe at least has it since its a new model and a bit farther out but the sedan is a possibility. It's made in the same plant as the glc though I think first glc deliveries will be a fee months later.

I was thinking about waiting for the coupe but the spec saloon (sedan for you Americans ) I want is right at the top of my budget. Do we think the coupe will be more/less expensive?

I'm getting a bit pissed waiting for my new 2015 C300 Sport 4matic.

I ordered it back in March ($1,000 down payment), was told to expect an early June delivery, and here it is June 18th and I STILL don't have my new car. As a matter of fact, the dealer hasn't given me a VIN number yet...even though for the last couple weeks a C300 spec'ed EXACTLY like what I ordered is listed on the MBUSA web site as "available" inventory at my Burlington, MA dealership. All I've got is "Nothing yet, we'll call you when it comes off the truck".

If getting this car drags into July, I'm going to tell them to keep it, and I'll just order a refreshed loaded 2016 BMW 328i xDrive M Sport line instead. I'll REALLY go ballistic if the car shows up with like 200 miles on it. An ordered vehicle should have low miles if trucked...right?

Afterall, the new 2016 3 Series will handle better than the C300, it's quicker, and it has a heated steering wheel & rear seats...AND free maintenance for the first 50,000 miles or 4 years.

Well you should start a new thread since you want to debate C300 vs 328. However I do have one comment, there's no such thing as a free lunch... the "free" maintenance on BMWs is already built into the sticker price.
