Then it could have been a turbo controller glitch. Most true limp mode situations are caused by the transmission.

Were you using Distronic Plus (cruise control) at the time? I had a similar problem and finally realized that I had accidentally switched on the Distronic and its Max. speed was set very low. Once I switched it off, everything was fine, but I was in heavy traffic when it happened and couldn't accelerate for a while -- very stressful.

Hey Everyone,

It's been a while since I checked up on this post. It looks likes the the thread is getting a little off track.

So I'll post an update:
I'm still experiencing the acceleration issues, but have narrowed it down to two very specific instances where it's happening.

1. In third gear when I pedal about 3/4 quarters of the way, the car(not sure if it's motor or transmission) will choke out on the upshift to 4th gear.

2. In 5th gear at 58mph-60mph and I pedal 1/2 way, the kickdown into fourth gear will choke the car out.

If I completely let go of the gas pedal for about 3-5 seconds, the car will recompose itself.

This is all in Sports mode as that's the only mode I drive in.

Will be bringing my car in for service again this Wednesday.

Wondering if there was an update to this? I bought my very first Mercedes and I've had to take the car back twice to get this same issue fixed. So far it's been there for a week with no updates other than the tech was able to replicate the issue. Car has just over 2000 miles and I'm already beginning to question my purchase.

@Fury23 - Never ended up having a chance to bring my car in for service. About to hit the first oil change mark so will be letting them service my car then. It is super frustrating as I got the same "tech could not replicate issue" answer as well. What makes it more frustrating is the fact that it is a serious safety issue and it seems they are downplaying the problem! I would almost consider the car "broken" I have nightmares about the motor choking out while trying to get on freeways or trying to speed up to pass cars.

When I bring my car in, I'm going to demand that they fix the issue before I get the car back. I will even offer to take them for a drive and replicate the issue myself! This is very very unacceptable and i cannot stress how serious of a problem this is!

Best of luck.

Will be watching for the follow-up. Please let us know what happens.

This will probably be my last update. Looks like the problem was fixed after they did a engine power control unit software update. I haven't come across the issue for two weeks now. Hopefully it stays that way.

Hey, I had a friend ask me about this similar problem and what he told me sounded way off but he said it's what MB told. Does this sound similar to everyone else's problem and a correct solution?

He has a c250 and had serious acceleration problems getting onto the interstate. He took it to the MB dealer and they told him the engine was getting condesation in it. So they told him they drilled a hole in, I think he said, the manifold. Does this sound right?

I'm nowhere near knowing what a MB mechanic knows but this just sounds odd.

Haha. Although I don't think he will have the same laughable response as me. He is posed off and calling MB repeatedly. It was actually his daughter car they did it too.

So no one has heard of drilling holes in the manifold to help with condensation that is causing slow highway acceleration?

I had the same issue

I had the same issue, at first the car switched off due to crank shaft sensors worn! Then once I started the car she was struggling to start the engine, then later it runs with 80% drop in power. I suffer driving it for 30 min and the gear what’s shifting strangely with noises.

I restarted the car at home and still the same, will keep you updated once I got the car report from the garage.
