still wondering if it has the 9g tronic. i'm willing to wait for that since i'm in no real hurry to buy. anyone know? a lot of the publications are saying 7g tronic, but with the GLC and SLC etc coming with 9g tronic on the 300 models , its seems possible

I, for one, don't mind the 7'speed at all. This transmission has been around for years and all the bugs had been ironed out.

I read that the 9g-tronic is available in Europe.

Just check MB Canada site. All 2015 models have the 7g-tronic and the 2016 models have the 7g-tropic plus.

In North America, the GLC300 is coming with the 9g-tronic, but not the C class.

I went to MB Canada site again and GLC is not even offered here.

BTW. When they changed the transmission from 5 speed to 7 speed, I did not care too much of it. Are they a lot of improvements of this new 9 speed?

its supposed to shift faster and get slightly better mpg.

theres a few cars here that already have it cls550 i think in some trims.

i know the SLC300 and GLC300 and GLC "coupe" are going to have it as well as the E class.

i only dug up that post, that says it will be either a 6 speed, 7 speed or 9 speed. but i'm guessing thats for the whole line (obviously we dont get the manual here, but they have manuals in europe)

I stand corrected. I checked again and we have GLE350d with the new 9 speed in Canada. Now I wonder about the new C Coupe.

When and where did they launch this 9 speed? I asked because they did have issues with the 7 speed a few years ago.

I really like the car. The design both inside and out is cool. I will take a close look once they are available for test drives. I'm a bit underwhelmed by my current 328i, especially the (lack of) seat comfort.

Are there any dealers that are forum sponsors that are easier to get deals with? For example, bimmerfest has forum sponsors and it's easy to get in touch with a salesperson and get no hassle quotes from them. I know it's too early to get a quote now, but just wondering if there is something like that here.

Finally, does MB have driving events where you can try their cars without sales folks, even if it's just a short drive around town? BMW, e.g., has various event such as "Drive for the (Olympic) Team" or for other causes such as cancer. You get to drive the car(s) available around town on a predefined route and they make a donation to some cause for each mile driven. It's just great to test a car with zero sales pressure. When test driving a car with a sales person, instead of focusing on the drive there's usually chatter from the salesperson, not to mention a feeling of obligation of having taken up his time for nothing if I decide that I don't like the car. And with each additional car tested, that feeling of obligation goes up.
