What exactly are you referring to, the multimedia screen, in the centre of the dash, or the driver information screen centred between the dials?
If it is the first, then you absolutely get used to it. It is a) bigger than the screen I had in my W204, b) higher res and c) lower down (mine had the pop-up screen). Now, whether you like the "look" of the screen, is a different matter. I liked it, for practical reasons and now, with time in the car, I like the look of iit also, and find it difficult to imagine how a binnacled screen could look right against the dash set up.
If you refer to the driver info screen, I like the content and clarity of the display - I dislike, immensely, the fact that the front Parking display is placed at the top of it - IN THE ONLY POSSIBLE PLACE THAT I CAN'T SEE IT! I can only imagine the designer was about 4' 2".

It's not a question of getting used to it, it's really a matter of appreciating how good it really is. It's in a perfect spot for visibility and readability, is high resolution, and makes most other displays look inadequate. I think you'll be seeing other manufacturers following Mercedes' lead and using similar designs.

Not sure if I read it somewhere that this trend was started by BMW.
There will be new E class coming in 2017. I wonder if the new model will have similar screen.
by the way, how does this screen look under the sun?

From what I've seen, people who DON'T have a W205 hate the screen, and those of us that do have a W205 love it. I was somewhat iffy at first but now I love it. As stated above, great resolution and nice size. No complaints whatsoever about glare either.

I'm anxiously waiting for my 2016 C300 with Multimedia package, hence the even larger display. Having test driven the car extensively, I immediately fell in love with the display and how crisp it is. I found its location to be perfect and I quite honestly think it looks better than one embedded in the dash as in older generation MB screens. I also found it worked just fine in bright sunlight. All around good job by Mercedes, if you ask me.

When i was car shopping i looked at all the others in the category and went into Mercedes with the most negative towards it because of the display. I thought it was ugly. To me it looked as if after they designed the car and was showing it off, someone asked where the navigation screen came from. They said oops, went to their car ripped the garmin off the windshield and screwed it into the dash. After i test drove the MB i loved it. Just funny how the car i hated the most came out on top. Other makers or going this way aswell, when you look at BMW, Lexus, even Audi they have all started that way.

This was exactly my question. For the few responses here, some of you did not like it in the beginning but eventually grew to like it.
My CLk 320 (w209) is getting old and I am looking at the new 2016 C Coupe. According to the pictures on net, exterior styling is excellent. I don't care for the info screen as stated here and the B pillar ( my w209 has no B pillar).
I have been driven this w209 for 11 years (over 210k miles) and I am totally sold on MB technology. How many cars will drive and look good after 11 years! Hope the new C Coupe will last as least half as long.

I thought it was the worst part of the interior (obviously the rest is fantastic) before I drove it. Turns out, I don't mind it AT ALL. A friend has an A3 and is constantly reminding me that his display can hide away, but I don't care because my interior is WAY nicer overall, plus the A3 doesn't even look nearly as nice.

I was not impressed with the screen location in the a class courtesy vehicles but the way it is integrated into the c class dash was obvious as soon as i saw it in the flesh and it seemed a much better design. From the passenger seat the way the screen is fixed is clear and it looks very well designed, smooth and well engineered. In use it is excellent far far better than the really small audio 20 screen in my glk. To get that size screen i suspect the external fitting was the only option. My only complaint is that the bezel is a tad plasticky, i have the straight audio 20, but overall i really like the screen.
For the future though a full proper tablet style with a full glass front is what i am hoping they will provide.......note i think audi are going the mercedes route from the pics of the new a4, not surprised it works!
An aside using a controller or touchpad is a lot lot better than touchscreen in my experience.
I agree by the way having the parktronic readout at tge top of the instrument cluster does not work well, why not on the screen?

Personally I love it. Its perfectly positioned to view at a glance and its high def is wonderful. The smaller screen is OK but it pales compared to he optional large one. The reason its where it is purely esthetic, it would not fit anywhere in the dash without messing up the dashes styling. Regardless some hate it.
