Coat of protection?

So i've had the C250 for 1 week now and haven't as yet polished it or protected it with any wax ( to be fair I am rubbish at this as I have no idea where to start with any fancy polishing or cleaning of a car, normally I would just jet wash my previous cars)...

Should I be doing something to protect the coat at this early stage?

I usually have a new car waxed pretty early on. What I don't use is a wax that is a cleaner wax as it usually contains an abrasive, which you don't need. Using a wax that is shown as good for clear coat finish is all you need. Meguiar's is usually what I use.

Something like this should be very safe on your car: http://www.meguiars.com/en/automotiv...us-liquid-wax/

I second Meguiars, I use NXT. Fully synthetic. Easy to apply, easy to remove and doesn't stick to plastic. Great shine and very good durability.

I use Meguiars Ultimate clay, polish, and liquid wax. Give even the Iridium Silver a very glossy shine!

Wash (2 bucket method), clay then wash again. then use Sonax Net Polymer Shield.

Trust me. Its like a force field for water and debris.

You could find a local Detailer and get your car professionally detailed a lot do ceramic coating to protect the paint. I'm sure if you do a local Google search you could find a good one, also have a look at detailingworld.co.uk you can get all the info you will ever need on the subject of car care.

Thanks folks. Does detailing actually prevent stone chips to the bumper? I have got a couple of nasty ones since doing a lot of motorway mileage over the last few days

In a word No but a ceramic coating can help against swirls and minor blemishes it can also make keeping it clean easier.

CornishPasty. If you want to protect from stone chips, you might consider paint protection film. There's a separate thread on it at https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...tion-film.html.
