Technically is it a 'CD Player' or a 'DVD Player'. I was wondering if I could play a disk burnt with .mp4 files (compressed audio + video), and it would display the video on the command screen alongside playing the audio?

It is CD/DVD/MP3. The system is automatically programmed to not show video when the car is in motion.

It would have been so cool if it could play video on the command screen simultaneously, but safety - understandable, or maybe not so understandable

By the way, the .mp3 sound reproduction on Burmester is immaculate, HD radio is more than perfect, however the Sirrus is left wanting ... I dont know why Sirius sound is not so good, or maybe it is supposed to be like this?

Overall Burmester does live up to its name, I would be willing to doll 8-10k alone for it, and I am glad I didn't have to ...

Be grateful we don't have people roaming the highways watching videos while driving. People are distracted enough.

I would hope the Burmester can do a great job with MP3. MP3 is by nature compressed. I want to hear how it does with less compressed formats.

Blu-ray would be awesome (25.6 GB of storage is cool), though I think MB didn't want to belittle their Multi-media package's 10GB hard disk drive

There is a significant difference. Audio 20 is the base system available in the C class in terms of radio and does not include navigation. There is an SD slot option where the Garmin Map Pilot can be added, but does not include voice recognition unless another $250 option is added to that as well.

Command is a much more complete, integrated and expensive option, but it offers some significant upgrades

Actually, for 2016 it's 5 years of service for SiriusXM Weather and Traffic according to the Mercedes Benz site.
