It seems that mbrace Connect is new to 2016 models and offers 5 years for free.

It seems to have a lot of cool features, and was wondering if anyone has heard anything or has any insight on this becoming available on the 2015 models.
From what I recall, when I took delivery of my 2015, I was only offered 6 months free of mbrace, so I think mbrace Connect is new.

nope. us 2015'ers got screwed in a few ways. that being one of them

Yes we did.
M biggest anger at it is that it isnt back compatible. My biggest disappointment when I bought the car was the absence of remote start.

Not if the Comms module isn't installed, no.

This is the main reason why (out of protest) that I will not renew my mbrace subscription when my free trial period is over on my 2015.

It's unavailable options like remote start, heated sport steering wheel or heated rear seats...that and the 2016 model gets mbrace free for 5 years, slow 3G service, and one cannot shut-off permanently the extremely annoying auto-engine shut-off feature that just might sway me to BMW next time.

I admit its been something of a sore point with myself as well. I like the car well enough but I feel like I'm getting a raw deal on the mbrace. $300/year (after taxes) for smartphone capability when BMW is free? C'mon...

They need to consider an a la carte offering, at the very least.
