Can anyone confirm if the UK W205 has this facility ? I've never yet seen the 'parking space' indicator appear for anything but parallel spaces. Thanks

It's supposed to but when I tried it once it tried to park in sideways and I had to abort.Originally Posted by Kahuna2205

I am not certain this works in EU, I suspect this is a US feature only.
It does work. But in my experience, by the time it's decided the space is right, and I've faffed with the buttons, and got it all going, I could have parked the car manually myself.
The parallel park is much more useful because it knows if the space is long enough. No guessing on your part.

Yes, it works fine.
You can tell whether it will be parallel or perpendicular on the display when you select.
Bear in mind, though, that the perpendicular will only work into a space between two parked cars, if there are two spaces, then it will try to parallel park!
Trouble is, who wants to park their car between two others - I tend to drive around until I find an out-of-the-way space as a far away from all the SUVs and people carrier's!

I've never noticed mine identify single spaces, is there something in the menu that I have to activate for Perp Parking ? Can't find any info on the digital manual
Tried it in Tesco car park tonight. Drove past single spaces slowly with both indicator on and off and nothing happened. How does it identify that it has found a space ? Parallel parking ..no problem , I got that sussed

I got it to work for the first time today (perpendicular spot). I was surprised at how far I had to drive past the open parking spot before the arrow displayed. And the first time I drove by, the arrow disappeared really quickly. (I turned around and went by again really slowly to catch the arrow). Once I put the car in reverse everything worked pretty well.

Do you need to be indicating for it to pick up spots ?Originally Posted by Steve71

You need to indicate if you want to park on the 'wrong' side of the road. So for left hand drive countries, you indicate if you want to park (parallel or perpendicular) on the right hand side of the road. And vice-versa for right hand drive countries.Originally Posted by Kahuna2205

Can't emphasise enough how slow you need to go, though. Less than 10kmh or 6mph IIRC. The parking sensors need to come on automatically.
Frankly I find it easier and faster to park the car myself.

The most useful part of the system is simply the arrow to say 'yes you can fit in there'!
