2017 C Class Sedan

Not sure if this is old news (well it is based on the date of the article) But looks like the digital display screens like in the S Class may be coming soon to the C for 2017.
Just ran across this so if posted way back yonder sorry in advance.

could be an e class mule, since it is on the same platform

When we saw these pictures earlier in the year, people thought the 2016 C class would get this. However, we recently saw spy shots of the new 2017 E class and it has traditional gauges. Since the E class won't get the LCD speedo, it is unlikely that the C class will too.

Wow I don't think I've ever seen such a perfect example of what it would look like to mash up two cars

Maybe it'll be an option. I wouldn't bet on the fact the the new E won't have it at all. That spy shot certainly doesn't look like a production ready finish, so everyone is still busy speculating.

Just from an evolutionary step, you'd have to think that the days for analogue gauges are numbered (especially for the E Class). The BMW 5 series has had full digital gauges for a while and Audi has done the same now - I'd be seriously surprised if MB isn't following suit.

Agree with the above - at the end of the day, the money-men will rule and contstruct of several analogue gauges will be more expensive than an LCD panel built in China, or by robot.

I reckon 2 years before we see them as mainstream.

That is IMHO ugly! What is that hideous mid-section with the air vents? And that dash "extension" or whatever over the gauges and NAV screen... I understand they don't necessarily want the grafted screen look in an E-class, but that is hideous!

That middle section is pulled from the S Class and the top of the cowl will likely be reduced to S Class levels when the actual production begins and not these prototypes. I honestly cannot see a better way to mix the 2 interior design languages of the C/CLA/GLA/GLC/GLE with the S Class.

I don't doubt that digital gauges are in the C's future but it would be cost prohibitive to offer them as an option.

I dont think the A6 nor the 5 has full LCD gauges. They have much wider center info screens but they still have traditional needles for speedo and rpm

I believe that it is in the very near future for the C. It's already in the Lexus is the audi tt and the new A4 will have it as well.

True - yet their time is coming. Case in point, this article from last year which suggests that even the A4 will receive it as an option:

I'm not a fan of the LCD gauges but they are the current trend since they're cheaper than analog plus people seem to think they're premium.

My boss has a 2015 S550, with the full LCD Gauges. I guess they're OK, but I wouldn't go out of my way to have them and I noticed the sun made them a bit hard to read in some situations. I'm sure we'll all have them one day, but like you just said, the thought is they're premium, but are they really?

Its the Apple Watch versus an automatic swiss made time piece. Which would you rather have? Me, I'll take the Rolex Daytona in stainless please!

I remember all the stupid complaining about the C-class screen when I always thought it was the best choice to replace it easily when it will be broken. And now I still prefer it than any integrated screen that will cost you an arm and leg to replace.

As much as I hate the cheap Chinese tablet look, I hate this school bus dash even more. The E43 revealed in NY Auto Show is what prompted me not to wait for the C43 if it is going get this school bus dash look. It works for S class or E class cruisers, but I still like good gauges pod and not sure it'll work in a smaller C class.

Also, Audi got that LCD dash design down because it's poached from Lambo.

Same, I'm not really in love with either (although I love the rest of the interior). I figure do a 3 year lease on the C450 now with a fat discount, run the sh*t out of it for 3 years (or less if I decide to try to get out of it early) then give it back to the dealer and pick up the updated C43, C63S or E43. By then the 9 speed should be mastered and the dash should be tweaked and updated to be top notch.

...of course that plan will never work out exactly as planned, but at least I'll have a C450 to drive hard this summer and will have better options that I hopefully love when I go to purchase at this leases end.

Just pulled the trigger too, June delivery.

They just added AMG Performance Seat for Canada, along with discount and potential rate drop and payments waived in June (come on MBFS!), so there is almost 0 excuse left for me to wait for C43.

You must get AMG Leather to get Performance seat.

So $1990 + $2300.

I wasn't so sure because limited seat time at Auto Show had me thinking but dealer gave me some seat time and I was sold on it.

Let's use the word borrowed. Poached makes it seem like it was done in an unfair or underhanded way, Audi has owned Lamborghini since 1998. I just used the new virtual cockpit at the car show and I have to say it was actually very very nice.
