Service date reminder question

Is there anything rigid about the service date reminder? I am getting one saying its due in 19 days but I was planning on booking an appointment late November or early December to get my winter tires/wheels installed. Is it a big deal to postpone the service a few weeks?

Well, your car's not going to blow up or anything, but it is telling you it needs it's service. And if the oil viscosity has degraded much (it likely has) every day you delay puts strain on the engine and it's long term health.

For the low mileage I put on the car I'm not concerned about putting a strain on it's health but I am curious about the terms of warranty concerning service dates being rigidly applied. To book my car is a 90 minute trip to another city and doing it twice in a month (for the tire switch) is not a lot of fun. I may even have acoustic glass installed at the same time so it would then require leaving the car and coming back the next day.

All I want to know is the ramifications of delaying service a few weeks past service date so I can make more efficient use of time traveling to a distant dealer.

To get a definitive answer, call your dealer's service department.

Delaying service a few weeks will not affect warranty or degrade its health. Relax people.

Thanks for the clarification. I have decided to buy a 3 year pre maintenance package before the due date so that has moved my schedule up anyway.
