Audio 20 upgrade to navigation?
I was wondering if there is any possibility to upgrade my audio 20 usb to navigation. I did the stupid mistake not to pay attention when I ordered the car at my dealer, telling him that my only preferences are the automatic gearbox and the intelligent LEDs, because I travel a lot and the rest of the upgrades are at his will, with the condition not to exceed 45k euros. It did not cross my mind that I have to tell him that I need navigation too. Well after receiving the car in May 2014, the dealer said that there is no cheap solution anymore, because I have the radio 20 usb and it would be very difficult and expensive to try some workaround ( even more than 4k euros ). Hearing about the outrageous price, I chose to buy a portable navigation, but I don`t really enjoy it so much...
So, after waiting so long, I am asking you guys, if there is any possibility you heard of in the meantime.
Thank you in advance!
Should I try to another dealer?
The full command system with the built in media centre operates differently as it has an inbuilt harddrive and the navigation is downloaded from dvd.
Looking at the accessories catalogue mercedes france sent me last week it costs 647 euro for the card the part no for a c class is shown as A205 906 8502. Methinks your dealer does not know what he is talking about unless cars for your market are configured differently i have assumed you are uk based so think you should be ablemto sort this for a few hundred painful but more doable than thousands!
You need a new 12V feed cable for the new USB/SD unit, routed from the passenger footwell, a GPS antenna mounts behind the instrument cluster, a longer GPS antenna Cable and the USB/SD slot unit.
Coding of the HU and IC and inserting a Garmin map SD.

I will try another dealer, maybe they will be more competent, although I doubt that. After all I live in a big city in Germany, the dealer is also a pretty big one, so I expect they should have known if it was possible to make it work just with a card.
@vic viper What you say, makes more sense, because I don`t have a GPS antenna and that`s what the dealer told me too. Unfortunately, I don`t think I`m able to do something like that myself, at least not without instructions step by step.

No problem, your answer was not rubbish, it`s my fault for not providing enough information.
@ Vic can you tell me a price range for the retrofit?
also in very early W205 you will need a ground cable, but we are talking around €2 each here

The TS is around €300 if I am not mistaken.
Shouldn`t the dealer be able to do this kind of work? Or should I search for another specialized autoservice? I could try to do it myself, when I`ll have enough time, but I am a little afraid not to mess something up...
Once that is removed it is just a matter of loosening screws and unclipping some panels.
Remove passenger side door sill and carpet lining
Remove centre console
Remove armrest
Loosen the HU
Remove cover around steering wheel below instrument cluster
Remove instrument cluster.
Fit antenna behind instrument cluster, fit extra GPS Cable to antenna (90deg bend), remove Purple housing in other end of Cable, route Cable to HU and insertin free slot of blue connector,
insert the feed wire into the pink connector slot 5 in the lower passenger A-pillar, insert other end into SD-Card reader black connector, next to brown ground wire (cant remember slot number)
Code instrument cluster and HU, insert SD card.

Yes, but you also need the 12V Power Cable
The kit includes Antenna and SD card module, you need to buy the SD-card software as well.
Why MB parts are so expensive... I can buy card reader for 30euro but cant buy gps antenna so at last i must buy kit from mb ;(
Or maybe you know part number from gps antenna?
It has the bigger screen, it has a sd card reader slot on the radio thingie and it reads and play .mp3 (just tested) and still they say its not worth it and it will cost me like 5000 euros to fit.. What the hell

If your car has SA code 522 you only need an additional GPS antenna and some coding.
If not youll need a new head unit and it might be expensive.
I have (505) audio cd with sd card reader and USB connections for my phone.
That is at least what my paper says.
