I expected BMW is the faster one because the plus 14 HP, but it seems the C220 as fast as the BMW!


What do you think guys? Wich one is better?
I drove both car. The Benz is much more sophisticated in my opinion. Ok the BMW was fun to drive especially in corners, but also felt very rude principally the engine!

I test drove a 420d hatchback prior to buying the C300 diesel hybrid. After two months of C300 ownership and previous owner of 3 x BMWs I can say the following :-

- I prefer the interior of the C class; it puts a smile on my face every time get behind the wheel, even before I start moving.
- the diesel hybrid is noticeably quicker than any of the 2 litre BMWs.
- I find the 2.1L MB engine more refined especially at idle than the BMW 2 litre - it is very gruff at idle
- the BMW has better sorted suspension even on 19" wheels. The C class does not ride well over the bumps - the back end of the car moves laterally over some bumps. I'm sure the run flat tyres don't help, but the BMW is also fitted with RFTs.
- overall I would rate the construction quality of the 3 series / 4 series above the C class. I've been back to dealer twice already to fix known problems compared to zero warranty problems on my BMWs.

Having spent a good deal of time in the BMW and having bought the C220, all I can say is that I remain convinced I made the right decision...
