This does not change the color of the headlight themselves, so the headlights remain fully functional.

I have not taken a close look at the headlights on the W205, but the low beam at least does appear to have a lens. So I imagine if you drilled into it from the underside, mounted a red LED, it could be made to glow without compromising the real headlight..
Finally someone is being helpful :-) Many of you guys are incorrect. It is actually a projector light. And it does have bulbs, LED bulbs that is. In fact, it's a combination of 20 tiny LED bulbs on 2 rows, 10 on each row, if I remember correctly. But you can't paint them red as they get very hot.
You don't have to crack open the light housing. Well, sort of. You'll just have to make a cut at that little box in the picture to remove the LED bulbs and the heat sink. But I don't see how you can stick another light bulb in there. The LED has its own wire/connector and if you mess with it, you might kiss your light goodbye. You're having a perfect working light here. Don't mess it up. Treasure it. Not everyday that I don't wish that I have a normal LED light.

Of course the headlights have LED bulbs but the point is they are very custom and not commersially available.

There are no socket "standard" for LED.s such as the xenon D1S or similar just yet.

hey Vic, do you happen to know what the voltage of the LEDs is? I removed the bulbs and tried to connect a power source to them to light them up, but wasn't successful. I'm guessing they're 14V, and I had my driver set to 14V, but still couldn't light them up.
