I have not taken a close look at the headlights on the W205, but the low beam at least does appear to have a lens. So I imagine if you drilled into it from the underside, mounted a red LED, it could be made to glow without compromising the real headlight..
You don't have to crack open the light housing. Well, sort of. You'll just have to make a cut at that little box in the picture to remove the LED bulbs and the heat sink. But I don't see how you can stick another light bulb in there. The LED has its own wire/connector and if you mess with it, you might kiss your light goodbye. You're having a perfect working light here. Don't mess it up. Treasure it. Not everyday that I don't wish that I have a normal LED light.
There are no socket "standard" for LED.s such as the xenon D1S or similar just yet.
