Question Winter Tire/Wheel Question for 2016 C300 Sport

Will be getting replica 17" 5 spoke wheels & Blizzak LM32 tires (225-50/17) for winter.

I assume there will be no issue with having the larger brakes with sport pkg.?? The wheels we're looking at are 8" wide with 35 offset.

And dealer confirmed no need for extra TPMS's which is great news lol

Thanks in advance!

If you have sport package, you will need 18" wheel to clear the caliper. Getting winter wheel from the following company:

Thanks for the reply! I asked the tire shop and they said will fit/clear fine with the brakes etc. I did mention to them about having the Sport pkg larger brakes, I'm confused now...

You're buying new wheels and do not need new TPMS sensors in each new wheel? How is that going to work?

You're right about that Stan...sounds like that dealsership of his is confused or something.

I suggest the OP looks up TireRack on line...even they say you need 18" wheels to clear the bigger brake calipers on the "Sport" models, and you would need an additional set of TPMS if you don't transfer the ones in his stock wheels over to his new wheels.

OP,

For the Winter, I bought a brand new set of 2015 18" AMG wheels (and center caps) with the stock A/S run flat Continental tires & stock Mercedes TPMS for only $1,900 shipped from eBay.

That's what the dealer told me, three tire shops and a friend mechanic. I'm just getting conflicting info about 17" wheels fitting, tire shops say it will fit but here I'm hearing something different so I'm not sure anymore lol I guess I'll have to do more research.

The system needs a compatible sensor in each wheel or it won't work. The sensors have to stay in your original wheels, since it makes no sense to keep switching them between two different wheel and tire setups. Unless you don't mind the loss of the TPMS system while your snows are on the car, you will need a sensor in each wheel.

Hi Brutus99,

Great thread! Fellow Canadian here shopping for winter tires. Accorting to a few tire shops, my dealer, and The Tire Rack (see pic below), 17" wheels work just fine for the C300 Sport.

Regarding pressure monitoring, Canadian cars are equipped with (TPLW) Tire Pressure Loss Warning which uses ABS sensors to measure differences in wheel rotation to determine a flat tire. US cars have (TPMS) Tire Pressure Monitoring System which has a sensor in each wheel.

Hope this helps!

Can anyone confirm on INSTALLING 17" wheels on the C300 sport? Not just what a webpage says? It would not be nice if one go buy a set of 17" and it won't fit.

I called one dealer on 17" and they said it can't be installed.

I had Dunlop SP Winter Sport 4D 225/50 17s installed last weekend with no problems on my 2015 C300 sport. I'm in Canada so no issues with TPLW because they are ABS based. I just needed to reset to the new tires when they were installed.

Mercedes Benz C300 2015
Hello Guys,

This is my first time on this forum. I drive a Mercedes Benz C300 2015 with sports package.

I am also planning to buy 17" Winter Tires with Mags. I have checked with 2 dealers. One said, you cannot install 17" inch because it won't fit. the other one said Mercedes Benz don't sell 17" inch winter tires so we cannot tell you if they fit or not. So I am really disappointed in their answers.

So I have checked with Fastco. company, they make replika wheels for Mercedes and they have confirmed that their wheels will fit my car. I have placed the order for Bridgestone WS80 225/50R17 and Replika wheels R142 17 x 8 Offset: 45. I am getting them install this weekend so I will see how it goes.

Would you be able to post some pics and specs of which wheels you got? The RWC wheels fit in the 17" size however the clearance is extremely limited making the placement of weights very difficult.

Thanks!

I just installed a 17" set from tire rack and it cleared my sports package caliper.

My question however, is what is the lug nut torque spec and what tire pressure should I put in the tires

Some pics of 17" RWC MB92 rims on a Canadian 2016 C300 with Sport Package.

Its a tight fit but within specs; you just need to be careful with the placement of wheel weights.

C400
Hy guys. It seems this is the good thread to ask my question.

I have a C400 4Matic.
I just mounted 4 tyres+wheels with following dimensions :
Tyres : 225/45 R18
Wheels : 8.5Jx18 5x112 ET42.

Does somebody here knows if this setting is homologated by MB ?

I've to precise I first asked for 7.5Jx18 wheels but they made a mistake.

Thx !

Rgds.

Brake vs inner mag clearance

Hi,

Would you mind letting me know what is the clearance between the caliper and the inner side of the mag on your setup?

I tried 17' RWC MB557 wheel at the local shop on my C300 2016 with sport package but didn't pay attention to the clearance. Called the dealer and they said that if there is not enough clearance, the brake may overheat. Well, I was planning on installing 17' wheels for the winter and the cold temperature might prevent any brake overheat.

It's about 3-4 mm. Ran this setup from November to March last winter with no issues.
