Locking when let idling

So living in the northeast without remote start, I like to start my car when I wake up, get ready, then jump into a nice warm car to work.

My 400 does not let me lock the car from the outside once I have started it..little troubling as I worry about robbery..Any way to fix this?

In the UK it's illegal to leave a car running unattended, locked or otherwise. Not to mention the environmental emissions impact.

I replied to this in the remote start thread a moment or two ago. Just press the lock button inside the door and close the door. Once you put your hand in the handle it will unlock again as normal. This is how I warm mine up. It would be nice to be able to use the fob but obviously Mercedes isn't concerned about your car getting stolen.

Great as in you live somewhere where you needn't worry about such "trivialities" as uncessarily contributing to polluting the air of those around you?

Ugh.. there's always someone like you out there.

Listen, although I appreciate you pointing out the "obvious" by-product of carbon emissions, I don't believe that was my question.

If my post was a poll to see the pros/cons of letting your car idle, then your response would be welcomed.

FYI: *Unnecessarily

why is anyone being uptight about emissions when the cars come from the factory with remote start now?? does that not "pollute" just as much, i dont see the 2016 mbrace users being harangued about it.

dont crap on a thread needlessly

I'm curious about something. If you use remote start, and the car idles until warmed up, will the auto start/stop function kick in and shut the engine off at some point?

The engine turns off automatically after idling for ten minutes.
