I just had a B Service completed and they finally updated my maps. So I jumped from version 6.1 to 11.0 (2018)
I don't think we have much we can do to combat the visual appearance of the maps, but if you do prefer the night maps over the day maps, you can set night maps to always be on in your Comand settings.

Hi everyone! I am buying a E400 Coupe and I am planning to take the car to Europe, where I will be living next year. Does anyone know if the maps will work in Europe once I load the European maps? Can that be done or is there anything else that need to be done?
Map version
Hi, how do we know what is the most up to date version of the maps for our car ? I am afraid the dealer would just give me what is on hand...When I asked about a map update, they had no clue and they said no one ever wants their map updated because its not free..so I am afraid I know more about the subject then them..
I have a C300 2015.
Thanks

The color scheme is horrible. White letters and white street lines on light gray background. Night mode is okay. I regret getting the update for this ugly and hard to see colors in the day time. You think MB and their great resource and design department would have someone actually approved this color scheme. SMH.
The sad thing for me is since I live in L.A., there are hardly any new road being added so not sure why I even did it. You should take a before and after picture to compare the crappy color scheme.
I just stopped by my dealership today unannounced to see if there is an update available. My first update was to Version 10.1 and it would not take me to my gated community entrance. Preferred the dirt road next to it. The community is at least 7 years old or so. My second free update today is version 11.1. Nice to get it done without a fuss. Yes it still wants me to use the dirt road next to the entrance even though the street is a city street that happens to pass through the community and on the other end continues on as a city street. It also corrects itself to the correct street so I know the area is on the map. I don't believe these updates are true honest mapping updates, just tweaks done by Mercedes to get you back to the service dept. to give business to the dealer. The link below shows how to waste money on mapping.

I just updated my SD card. It was fairly painless. The install hung up for a while and I just closed and reopened the app and it finished fine. I'll let you guys know if I see a difference. The garmin system is laughable. It doesn't calculate routes properly, it's slow as all hell and the maps aren't even correct which is contrary to every other garmin product i've ever owned. I've had 2 separate garmin stand alone units, garmin mobile PC which I used to run in a computer in my last car and the iOS and android apps. All worked flawless but this POS in my mercedes is a disgrace.

Recently took my M-B in for service. As part of the discussion about what I wanted done asked about updating nav. system. Response was, "of course, we can do that." Upon return of the truck, update complied with, No charge.
I leased my 2017 C43 in NOV 2016, and both the dealer and MBUSA told me there's no map updates available for my car. It's running V8.0. They said "on your particular vehicle, there's no updates".
Doesn't sound right. See below description and link. You might want to contact MBUSA.
Multi-Year Update Program (United States Only)
Starting with the 2015 model year, Mercedes-Benz vehicles equipped with the COMAND navigation system receive three years of complementary dealer-installed map updates. The combined retail price of the map updates alone is $750, making the Multi-Year Update Program the ultimate in value and convenience.
