C450 AMG key?

Hi all!

This is my first post here, been lurking for a few weeks and am taking delivery of my C450 tomorrow after work (pics to follow!).

My question is if the C450 comes with the usual MB key, or the AMG one with the metal badge on the back?

For those who are interested, I found replacement backs for the key that have the AMG badge all over eBay.

Not even the proper AMG.s have these keys, for what I have seen they only come with the SLS AMG

Maybe even with the AMG GT but we havnt sold one yet.

That doesn't seem accurate, one of my family members owns a 2015 S63 AMG (sedan) and it came with the AMG key.

Thanks for the heads up! This is what I am planning on swapping the back of my key with for those who are interested: http://www.ebay.com/itm/GENUINE-MERC...-/281261834683

Prices range from $34 to about $100, not sure if paying more means you are more likely to get an authentic part...

From my experience with my 335 though, some 3rd party parts (like center caps) can sometimes be of same or higher quality than the original

Part seems kinda high. Specially knowing it's mostly plastic.

Whatever floats your boat. But I have to ask why? It's a very expensive piece of plastic, that for all intent will be held in your pocket with Keyless Go. Seems to me there's something out there for $100 that would be a better purchase, but again, if it floats your boat, go for it.

Valid points! My key usually sits on my desk at work or in front of me on the table at a bar or restaurant, so I enjoy the little bit of AMG flair.

Don't get me wrong, putting an AMG badge in place of the 4matic badge on the back of the C450 is going too far, but I think this is a bit more subtle. Not too different from getting a nice AMG keyring to go with your key.

If you can afford it and it will make you smile just a little more every time you see it, I say go for it!

I'm surprised that M-B still uses that old style keyfob. Even my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee has an updated, much better looking keyfob, then the similar M-B style keyfob (ugly) that my previous 2012 Grand Cherokee had. But to do that would require a new permanent mounted start/stop button instead of the current one in the Keyless GO cars that can easily pop out of the dash.

Overdue for an update.

Gonna side with VicViper on this one, between the two, I'd much rather have the AMG key

too expensive for what it is but i understand that one can enjoy it.
On my side I ordered the AMG leather carbon look keychain, pic below.

I would love to find the C63 / S AMG badge on the ashtray cover but so far no luck to find it anywhere

Thanks but this seems to be a front grill emblem not the cover. I'll check with the dealer anyway.

One could hardly say that Jeep Key Fob has anything over the MB (AMG logo or not). It's not more modern to my eyes in any way. Nor does it seem to do anything different/better than the MB Fob. It's just different.

I have the AMG cover on my key and it's always a great conversational piece

To each their own, I think the Merc fob is way classier than the bulky cheap looking Jeep fob.

I'd have to say. I think bmw set the new benchmark for most awesome key fob.
The key for the new 2016 7 series is pretty dang sweet!

The FOB I saw on the C450 I test drove didn't look like the MB FOB above. I don't like the ugly plastic end that sticks out from the MB remote. Yes, I know its used as the panic button and as a start key if the vehicle doesn't have push button start. But its still ugly.

My Jeep FOB, to me, looks better. But I guess it doesn't really matter since its in my pocket when driving.

The ONLY thing that would have been different about the MB fob you see above and the one you used for the C450 would have been the AMG badge on the back (pictured above). If the fob pictured above was turned on the other side, it would be a standard MB fob, with the standard MB fob buttons. And the plastic end piece you say you don't like does more than just have a panic button. It's what fits into the ignition switch in the car and what communicates with the system to start the car.

All said though, why are we even discussing the design characteristics of a Fob from MB and one from Jeep (which to me looks much cheaper than the MB fob) anyway?
