I dont believe C450 can be spec'd with Airmatic. It comes only with AMG tuned Adaptive Sports suspension (steel springs and adjustable dampers),

It wouldn't surprise me if the suspensions were tuned differently for different markets. In the US market, none of the steel versions are particularly soft.

I have no problem with it, and actually prefer a tighter suspension, so that's not a complaint, merely an observation.

Interesting thread, thought the front page crowd would think so too...

The first time the temps here got below 50, the ride got noticeably firmer. The rear end was especially jittery. This was on the base car with 17's. Totally different ride characteristics vs the same car warm.

Its one of the cars that you know its popular when there are so many of them on the road. Especially this first version. so my curiosity got the better of me.
So walked into dealership. Had a really good look at W205.
First impression (these are my views):
Outside (standard and sport(amg package, downunder))
1. I like the front
2. Do NOT like the back. Somewhat odd, unconnected tailights design (compared to facelifted W204). Plastic Exhaust tips, cheapens an MB down to SSangyong.
3. The whole back design makes the car looks aneamic. Understand its for aerodynamics but could have done it better. Its very UN-MB.

Interior (standard and avantgarde)
1. Like the new steering wheel.
2. Don't like the sloping centre console
3. Don't like the STUPID, SILLY, floating screen. Everytime I get out then in again, feel like closing down the screen. It is OUT-OF-PLACE on the dash. Looks like a cheap add-on.
4. Prefer gear lever on console floor, but can live with stalk gear lever.

Driving:
Its a new car, so engine is still tight with engine management not releasing its potential.
Transmission programming, same as all (AMG excluded) MB, unintuitive. However, I have to say that it can be re-programmed through time by overwriting its memory map with my own shifting style. I have done this with my own W204. Now it shifts the way I want it to shift, albeits, sometimes it still overthinks itself.
Tyre noise (due to Continental tyres) still intrude into cabin.
For me, because the car is new, as in not run-in, I cannot make a good comparison with my W204.

Overall, I do not like the look from the back and the sore thumb sticking out of the dash.
Think, I'll skip this version.

As nicely as the car drives I'm also having trouble with the styling. Agreed the front head on is nice. Aggressive even, either in Sport or base trim. I actually prefer the non sport fascia, because the chrome lip spoiler looks tacked on. The rear end needs all the help it can get, so I prefer the Sport rear bumper.

Side profile seems awkward. The body overwhelms the wheels, even the 18", and having the C pillar almost behind the rear axle gives the car a stumpy look from the side.

Interior, I get the decision to stop trying to integrate the screen, because it handcuffs designers. The only interior gripe for me is the cheap plastic needles and printed background on the speedo and tach.

Overall, with the right color choices and especially wheels (none of the OEM wheels do the car justice IMO) I think it would be a rewarding car to own, if it were highly optioned. I don't know that it's possible to get an exterior that would cause me to go down to the garage at night to have one last look, but I probably could get it close enough.

It's an engaging car behind the wheel and it wins you over. I'm concerned that the 15s seem to have had a lot of somewhat serious quality control issues. That may have been cleaned up in the 16's. Jury is still out for me on the C. My S gets out of the shop tomorrow after two weeks. I want to get back in it now that I have a solid impression of the C.

Since getting a W221, after owning 2 W203s, a W204, 2 W212s, all gas models, I have to say, the other cars are so small and a bit noisier. It looks like I could put a W204 or W205 engine in my trunk and still get 32+mpg on the way to the shop to drop it off for a rebuild for a friend.

My bad, I did not touch it. I just looked at it. Probably the way it reflects the light.

Just had the car for a few days.
Found couple of minor things:
1. Seat settings are not tied to the key, you have to press 1/2/3 and wait for the seat adjustments. Most cars adjust the seat based on the key being used (At least BMWs have that). This is annoying since this is our only car and both of us drive it.
2. It would have been great if the nav screen was slightly angled towards the driver.

But these are minor issues and overall, its been great so far!

Same things I hate about all Mercedes:
- gear shift on steering wheel
- no separate stalk for wipers and turn signal
- cruise control on stalk instead of steering wheel buttons

The C is my wife's car. But I am looking at the W213 E63S when it comes out and I hope they don't have the steering shifter on that like they do on the C63.

I have the last generation of iPod classic 160G connected to USB1, the only thing that bugs me A LOT is the "device not connected" message keeps showing up every time i start the car; I have to unplug and plug it back so that it could be detected again; the iPod is using the latest firmware and the genuine cable that came with it.

Anyone here experiencing the same problem?

I have an iPod Classic 160GB connected via the USB and have never had that problem.

Using firmware 2.0.4 (the last version) and a cheap 6 inch cable from Amazon.

Mercedes just doesn't link the key fobs to the car's settings at all. It's a Mercedes thing, and I have never heard any rationale for doing it this way. It is a nuisance.

You get used to the screen very quickly. It has such a wide viewing angle that the lack of any offset becomes a non-issue.

1) I have the media package and the nav is poor is so many ways.
2 ) I don't like the fact the drivers side and rear view mirror dim automatically . I am forced to have that happen.
3) having to turn off Eco mode at each start if you don't want to use it
4) no space tire is ridiculous. It's a night or weekend, you have a flat somewhere and what, you call for a tow?
5) in general is seems MB has decided they know what's best for us and have taken away our choices. It seems like the car does what it does and we just need to learn to like it or not buy the car when some simple selections could make all the difference in the world.
6) noisy engine
7)The ability to easily switch between radio stations while using the navigation
8)The fact that the key Phobes a very simple system on many lower-priced cars don't save your memory settings
9) in general I love the interior and the appearance of the car in many aspects of it but it seems like it's designed to be more a showpiece then a car and it was designed for the ease and convenience of someone that wants to drive a wonderful car

Thanks for sharing; mine is 2.0.5, i even tried to recover/reset it; but it didn't help. The exact combination worked perfectly fine in my previous car using a Pioneer 2-DIN; Next, I'll try to get a cheap cable...

For those of us who throw the two keyfobs in the same place and randomly choose one ... it makes sense. Yes, I'm rationalizing

I tend to agree. We share the same key fobs in our house so I actually prefer settings not being tied to a key. Best case I guess would be to allow it to be tied to a key for people that want this and disable that feature for people who do not.

My trunk opens 99.9% of the time using my foot...no "sweeping" necessary.

One "kick", dead center...almost touching the rear diffuser...like kicking a ball head-on.

3) Agree
4) Does MB actually ship cars without run flats and without spares? That's f'd up. Free roadside assistance though.
6) Agree. Burmester.

The other stuff I have no firsthand experience with or don't bother me. I am sorry your experience with the car hasn't met your expectations. I've definitely been there. I call that experience "Audi".😊
