the exhaust note certainly changes in the different modes. One of the nicest tips I picked up on this site is starting the car in sport + mode. If you hit the start button without your foot on the brake 2x, you can then adjust the car mode up to sport+, then you can put your foot on the brake and start the car in that mode. It is a very noticeable difference. This is the method I used to start the car in the video I posted above. I have heard that if you drive the car in sport + for some time and then shut the car off, when you restart , the car will then automatically start in sport + for up to 3 hours. I have to say, I do not get the same sound from the exhaust after restarting this way as I do with the method I mentioned above. Manually putting the car in sport plus then starting gives off a much more aggressive note.

I have been following the release of the C450 for over a year after I read a great teaser review in one of the auto magazines. When the car was finally released I went down to the dealership and when I first spotted the car I actually thought it was a C63. Loved the aggressive look and quad pipes as well as the front diamond grill. After the test drive I was very impressed with the power, The interior is really stunning, comfortable and very sporty looking. The exhaust actually brought a smile to my face and I actually like the placement of the nav screen(i know I am in the minority here). I sat down with the dealer after the test drive and figured out the lease price, (lease all my vehicles) the payment was way higher then I expected. there was no incentives as expected for a new model, this is what brought me into the BMW dealership. I test drove the 340 with the M sport and track handling package. The car is very fast with almost no noticeable lag when hitting the gas and handled fantastic as expected, very tight. However, To me, the interior feels much more cramped and dated in comparison to the C450. after looking at a couple different model BMW's I was almost settled on the 435 gran coupe. I happened in to another Mercedes dealership prior to pulling the trigger on the 435 and managed a fantastic lease deal on the C450 that I could not pass on, the rest is history.

My reasons for the C450 over the 340 or 435 Grand Coupe for that matter:

-More than adequate power even if not as quick off the line as the BMW
-Much nicer interior
-Nicer styling on exterior with quad pipes
-beautiful exhaust note on start up and crackling popping sound on downshifts
-panoramic sunroof
-To me more exclusive, you don't see one at every stop light.

I am no car expert, never claimed to be, but these are the reasons i personally chose the C450 over the BMW.
Fully agree with your comparison. I tested both and my choice was the 450 for the same reasons + the rear 67% awd + better feedback from the road.

Test driving 340, 435GC, and C450 this week

Although the 435GC is 4.7 secs 0-60 and C450 with much more HP/TQ is 4.8 or so why?

Weight and better gearbox may be. But I don't think the 435 does better.
Look here, sorry it is in French

Didn't have time to test drive the BMW that day, but since I currently drive I'm familiar with things. After test driving 3 different C450 at different dealerships and days, I drove a 15' GLA 45 AMG w/ Performance Exhaust and had to drive a C450 immediately because I couldn't believe it. I chose the GLA 45 AMG
Although the C450 has a nice interior, for tall ppl the GLA (in my case) fits the profile.

Test-drove a 340 M-Sport today and tomorrow test-driving a 340 M-Sport w/ M Adaptive Suspension.. lets see how it handles..

Was the GLA's ride harsher than the C450?

Yes! Best way to start the car indeed. Been doing so since I found out back in early October. I took a late September delivery of the very first batch of C450s but lemme tell ya, it only gets better the more miles you put on it even though I've only put on 1700 miles in 3.5months, you'll notice much smoother shifting and braking and even more speed after 1200-1500 miles.

Congrats on the car btw! Beautiful color choice, I would have also gone with the C63 19 split 5 spoked but im not sure they are available from the factory, again I may be wrong. I had very limited options on my build back when I ordered mine in May 2015.

The C450 actual tested speed is actually closer to 4.5 0-60 i think. It definitely has a leg up on the 435GC but performance wise it doesnt quite edge out the 340i. The only gripe about the c450 is the fact that it has a lag if you try to punch it after coming down on speed such as if you were to try to switch lanes when someone in front of you was stopped or trying to park, the C450 sometimes chokes and has a terrible lag in response to the sudden command to accelerate given that it is in the process of slowing down. It was quite dangerous actually as cars are approaching quite fast in the incoming lane

Just had that experience today. It felt like the accelerator wasn't responding for around 2 seconds.

Yeah its really scary. I think there should be a TSB on this issue. Its really a matter of safety

C450
Maybe reset the ecu after slow driving during break in? I've read it can be done and you get a new learning period of 500 miles.

Yes but not really that bad, GLA 45 is AMG and not meant to be a Plush ride so I wasn't worried about that. I drove the C450 in Comfort for 2 minutes then it was all Sport+ but yes def a smooth ride.

From my experience BMW underrates their engine and i haven't driven a 435GC yet but the 3 diff C450 i test-drove just didn't feel 362hp/384tq infant the GLA 45 AMG felt way faster and only 355/332.
Yes I noticed that lag too even in Sport+

People have to start complaining and it will be fixed my guess

Thought I had read on a BMW website/forum that the C450 was faster?

edit: nevermind, I hadn't read page 2 and that review is posted above.

Reading this concerns me. When I had a 2015 C300 loaner the first thing I noticed was the lack of acceleration from a dead stop. In NYC traffic this made it very difficult and in one situation dangerous to jump in between gaps in traffic. I chalked it up to 3 things: lack of sticky tires, only 4 cylinders and turbo lag. I hated how long the wait was for the car to "wake up" compared to the NA V6 in my W204. I thought the TT V6 in the C450 would not have that issue but you are the 2nd or 3rd person to write about this.

On paper it looks like the C450 hits 383 ft-lbs. @ 2000 rpm, W205 C Class 273 ft-lbs. @ 1300 rpm and my 2014 C hits 251 ft-lbs. @ 3500 rpm. On paper my W205 loaner should've been faster off the line but it definitely was not. Is there a Sprintbooster available for the W205? That can possibly help with the throttle lag.

I've had this as well. Seems to only show up in a material way in sport+ and almost never happens in comfort (and even then it is very slight).

It's very irritating.

Why do you constantly post these same pictures, even sometimes irrelevantly, in threads?

There a reason no one ever replies to them Spamming them in a bunch of a different threads instead going to change that.
