ANOTHER DIY -chrome wrap (in progress)
Not another one!!!
First time wrapping anything. Easy.
Ordered wrap 3m from online 15 bucks for 1x5 feet sheet.
Clean off area good. Dry very well. Wipe all wax off with alcohol wipe or on rag. Time to wrap.
Did a quick video. Never edited before either just did it on my iPhone.
Anyways here you are.
Fire away with questions. (Working on the grille and star next)

How the heck can I slow the video down to see what steps you followed for both, the trunk and the grill? Great work by the way, especially for a first time. I have done wraps on my BMW several times in the past but still not confident about doing parts that are on the car and not removed.

Steps are as follows and listed. Super easy. Clean with an weak alcohol very clean the area you want to wrap. Make sure dry. No oils etc. cut shape of vynl out slightly larger all around of the area. Lay over slowly siping with something as not to scratch the vynl (I used my finger but a credit card with towel around works better). Now it's in place and you push the edges into the corner where it meets the paint. So you have a slight crease to cut along. The blade just follows it. Barely press slice away. Heat gun the edges to ensure it sucks down. Done.
If you mess up peel off and retry.
Ordered gloss black 5ftx1ft shipped with blade and everything was 14 bucks. Cheap stuff. Makes hell of a difference. I did the front grille 2 times before I had it down perfect. Just peeled the mess up off and retry

It's a time lapse you can't slow it.

What do you mean one piece? There is 4 chrome slats. So 4 pieces were cut. Then I did another piece for the ring around the star

Oh yes of course one piece per slat. There is a natural join where the chrome meets the black paint. You need that join spot for your cutting edge. You don't even notice it. Looks like paint up against paint

Oh you're covering up the chrome trim with black vinyl, I get it now, I thought that you were going to cover the whole car in chrome film, silly me.

Now that you pointed that out I feel incredibly dumb lol you are right. I was looking at doing this to my 2016c300 as I'm wanting to build a night package on to my car but I think I'm just going to hire someone to do it professionally as well as redo my rimz to match the night package style
