eco start/stop
Nope, starter
And as you already know where the jam occurs, why not push the off button?, its no more effort than adjusting the AC or changing radio station.

Inch up...engine restarts, stop...engine shuts off almost instantly...repeat 50 times until you're out of traffic.

Not that this will make anyone feel better, but there is a setting in the ECU which allows the Stop-Start logic to be turned off by default, or for it to remember the last mode setting. The configuration is locked down, so don't go asking your dealer to change it for you.

I like the start/stop feature. As I have said in several other places, "spirited" driving is not possible in my area of Massachusetts. I hardly notice when it shuts off. In Comfort mode, the engine is pulling by the time I depress the gas pedal to the desired point and the turbo lag has been overcome. I simply do not feel any difference in desired acceleration. At a couple local intersections with limited visibility, I do use Sport mode. Then there is no turbo lag; the car responds to the gas pedal instantly. Then the start/stop feature does cause a barely noticeable hesitation. But the response is still more than strong enough to take me safely across the intersecting street. As for start and stop traffic, it is obvious that instant acceleration is never required. I am fortunate to have Distronic Plus, so I can just turn start and stop traffic over to that wonderful feature.

That could be a US feature but it is not supposed to start again when selecting park, removing the seatbelt or opening the door on the oither hand will start the car again.
How's that for a dose of reality?I mean really. I don't like the eco start/stop feature either. But it's easy to deal with and it's what prompted me to create my own Individual setting in my car. Get in the car, start it, hit the Agility Select switch up to I and drive off without ever having to deal with Eco. Plus it adjusts all the settings I prefer using in one simple setting.

- The ME knows the position of all the cylinders when the engine is shut off via ECO by way of B70 Crank Position Sensor
- When restarting the ME uses this info to select the cylinder that has the most favorable position for a controlled combustion
- By Injecting fuel at the correct time, the very first compression stroke can be utilized to support the starters action
- Resulting in a very brief operation of the starter motor
