Trade-Assist questions
I'm a first time poster but have browsed the forum for a year or so. I have had some issues with my 2015 C300 Sport that I am hoping someone can help me out.
1. Had seat covers replaced because of bleeding MB-Tex.(Fixed)
2. Right side mirror would go up instead of down when shifting into reverse. (Fixed)
3. Air leak sound when letting off of brake pedal. Was told by dealer that it is normal even though the loaner I drove did not have the same issue. Taken in 3 times for this.
4. SCREECHING brakes. Had front pads replaced and shims added. Sound started again the next day. Was told over a month ago that there is going to be another update. Still waiting for dealer to contact me.
5. Some other minor issues that I have not had a chance to take the car in for. ie. (rear bumper/gas cap misalignment, phone randomly switching off of audio when on a call)
Long story short, tried to have Mercedes buy my car back. They sent me a letter with $1500 in "release" money which the adviser said I would have to take into the dealer to see what they will offer me.
I told him I want the car replaced and he said they can help me with a "Trade-assist". He said to find a car then let him know where/what car it is and they will work with the dealer on the trade of my car. Am I going to be expected to pay something out of pocket? Or will I just be able to swap out my car?
I have attached a video of how loud the brakes are. The video quality is not the best. Thanks for the advise in advance!

My experience is you'll be out of pocket, but likely to gain piece of mind. You now hate the car and I've been there. Move on and forget it. Sadly, mbusa isn't doing the right thing.

Another thought: ask for someone in high management and tell them you've not yet retained a lawyer pending satisfactory negotiations.
If the guy says take it or leave it, depending on your pain threshold, I'd take it or find a lawyer.

My first C300 spent more time going back and forth to the dealer than it spent in my driveway. Many issues, including the MB-Tex ... which was not completely fixed when it was in for that repair.
Assuming you do not qualify for a Lemon Law case in your state, the trade assist will help, but it will not cover all of the depreciation on the car you will be trading. In my case, I did receive a 7 year extended warranty on my new car, a $250 credit with my dealer, and $1,000 in cash. I did have to pay the difference in price between the selling price of the cars, since my replacement was more expensive. The depreciation end of it wound up costing me about $1500 after trade assist. I probably could have fought for a better deal, but I was satisfied with what we agreed on and got rid of a car I had grown to really dislike and was ready to dump.
My new C300 has been excellent with only a few very minor issues.

Thanks for the replies. I did forget that I had to take the car back in after having the seat covers replaced. This is how hey looked. It is better now after adjustment but still not perfect.

I wish we were so lucky😕 It is very frustrating that a 50k car would have all these issues. Off topic but how do you like the glc? If we get this figured out I may be going that direction...

I have/had all of the exact same issues, except for the mirror thing. you cant really expect them to take the car back, expecially if this is all being fixed under warranty and its not costing you anything out of pocket. If it is, I would be pissed too.
Plus I have a highway vibration that they make worse every time i mention it by trying to re-balance the wheels, and they have re-heat formed my wheels twice. my door handle LEDs have all been replaced more than 2 times, they have broken 3 of the door locks in the process and then replaced them, they have replaced all four of my brake rotors for a different vibration.. etc.
It being a first model year car, I am not super surprised. Now I know to always wait for a model year in or so.

Great, sits a little higher and that makes it much easier getting in and out for us older folks. It also doesn't have the staggered wheels so now I can do a full tire rotation.

I understand what you are saying. But, I have owned more than one new model year cars. Most recently a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the c300 has been in more times than the 4 years I have owned the jeep...

So oddly I have been in two trade assist incidents in about one year's time. I know ridiculous. I don't know if my incidents will help you with yours.
-I may have been the 3rd user here after Stan that had the MB-tex issue. In this case I had the car for only one week and less than 130 miles I believe. After giving me a loaner for six weeks and initially rejecting a replacement, MBUSA caved. In this case, because my mileage was so low, they just gave me a new car. I wanted to upgrade to the intelligent lighting system so I paid the difference.
-That car was great until about 11 months later when my power steering cut out while trying to get on a highway. It was not a software issue but hardware and they replaced the steering rack. One month later it happened again (they claim wires got loose). At this point, this was veering on lemon law status so after about one month MBUSA agreed to a trade assist. In this case, I decided to trade up to C450 AMG that was fully loaded so that may change things a bit (I assume its higher margin for both MB and the dealership). Anyway, without getting into specifics and some negotiation I would say the deal was very fair. Basically, if the entire trade assist was applied to my prior car then I paid about the same cost it would have been to have just leased the car for that time frame and excludes the cost of any downpayment for the lease. I also got the benefit of having to pay the sales tax between the new car price and the old car trade-in value. On the new car, the dealership initially gave me a price that was unfair but after negotiating I got a fair deal on new car (I assume they are still making money but if you did not apply any of the trade-assist money to the new car I was probably below what the True Car cost would have been).
-In the end, both MBUSA and my dealership did right by me and weren't dicks about it (didn't act like they were doing me a favor somehow). Although my new car only has 220 miles so far, I love my C450 so far. It just gives me a giddy feeling every time I get in it. The engine is a huge difference over the C300 (which is honestly more than enough for 90% of the population). So MB has accomplished their mission in keeping me as a customer and spreading the good word about the brand. Now I just need to save up for my mid-life crisis and get a AMG GTS for the weekends!

C450 brake issue
Hello
Would you be able to let me know if your C450 is making any noise when applying the brakes and coming to a full stop then releasing pedal. When I release mine it makes a sound like pads are sticking to the discs. Happens even more and louder when it is wet outside....
Sounds like a suction/ sticking and I sticking noise.
I would appreciate the feedback as I am at a loss. Car has less than 1000km on it and it is driving me insane. Dealer claims it is normal.

The first year or two the 7.3 had it's growing pains also. I loved my 6.0, just couldn't keep turbos in it. The Lexus was another story. Steering system, cam gears, re-ring the engine and finally a fuel system recall was the last straw. The tranny was also acting funny when we got rid of it.

It just keeps getting better. Got out of the car last night and noticed that only the drivers side door handle is lit up. Going back to the shop and let my claim manager know. Hopefully they make this right.

Still waiting for dealer to contact me.(I have this issue too, as many others have had, almost all who have had the new pads or shims installed have said it has corrected the issue)

You want your car replaced because of these little thing? All are easily correctable...even the door handle LEDs burning out. Personally I'd only be screaming for a replacement if my engine fell under the wrist pin debacle where most of the engine has to be rebuilt. My list of fixes is larger than yours since it involves software updates, but I'm not ready to throw in the towel just yet...nor would I expect Mercedes to replace my car just for these little things.
I will say this though, if my dealership/Mercedes cannot or will not fix my list of things wrong with my vehicle, I will definitely be going back to BMW.

Just had my door LEDS replaced yesterday at mercedes of burlington, no biggie at all. Great dealer!!! I also had a noise while turning left or right so they replaced the front left and right propshafts no questions asked!
What I have found with mercedes is that if you mention a little thing, they will go beyond to fix it. For example, I mentioned once that there was a vibration while braking, and they went ahead and replaced ALL the rotors. With previous cars, I would have to fight tooth and nail to get anything fixed under warranty.

That's where I'll be going, and that's where I bought my car.
So far MBOB has been an awesome dealership to deal with, they have always treated me like a king. Steve Bergeron is the man!

From your build date you probably didn't have to deal with the bleeding mb-tex issue and did you watch the video I attached on my first post. The brakes sound like this every time the car is backed up, not just at start up. And I first took it in to be fixed about 3 months ago. Is this really acceptable for a 50k car?? My point is where do the problems stop...
