Ipod Mini Connection Problem

I have an old Ipod 4GB Mini that I tried to connect to my C450 with Multimedia And Burmester Package. The Ipod with MP3s works fine by itself but is not recognized by the car. I keep getting "USB Device Unreadable" message I tried two different Apple USB to 30 pin cables but still no luck. The Ipod Mini show that it is charging and the two USB ports in the center arm rest work fine with other usb devices. I tried both USB ports.

So is there a setting either on the Ipod or COMAND that I overlooked to get it to work? Do I need a special cable because my C450 did not come with any Apple cable ?

Your iPod is just too old. My 2nd gen Nano wouldn't show up either. My 7th gen Nano works fine.

I tried to plug the Ipod to my laptop and windows explorer can't see those mp3 files either. Just some other folders but not the music folder. I thought my pc or car would just recognize it as another storage device but apparently that's not how (old?) Apple devices work

I guess it is time to plug in the 128GB flash drive
