To Wait or Not to Wait? C450 AMG Sport vs. C43 AMG

Why would anyone want to buy a brand new discontinued model knowing full well the "newest" official model is just months away from release? Especially since no one can prove exactly what improvements may come with the latest model...PLUS Mercedes is considering the C43 a TRUE AMG.
What...just to save a couple bucks? Did people not learn a lesson from the short lived C400?

It's funny that people get all worked up over this. It's not like it's even a new model. The 300/450/C63 are basically just trim levels of the W205. If the entire W205 was up for a refresh (oh wait, it just had one) then I would wait for the refresh. Since that's not happening for a while we went ahead and ordered the car.
Had we had our hearts set on a MB coupe, then we would have waited since the C-class coupes will be getting a refresh for MY2017.

I ended up getting the C450 because of 1.) W205 is still in its first 2 years of its 5-7year model cycle, I would be shocked if MB decides to introduce a W206 in less than 5years. 2.) the V6TT is a new addition to the MB performance line and will become a legendary engine that will be the talk of the industry for years to come i.e. the N54 in the 335 or the 2JZGTE in toyota.

Mercedes owns AMG. He is a mere employee.
MB = $$$$$$$$.
Oh, almost forgot, since 2005 he is just another clown on the payroll. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-AMG

Even though I own a C450, I don't consider it to be a true AMG. It's not one man one engine; C450 to a real AMG is like an Audi S to a RS. It's just not a real AMG, hands down. I'm not trying to pose, I don't own a real AMG. For all I know, I bought an AMG-Sport, a car with AMG suspension and AMG-tuned exhaust but not an AMG engine

Thank you everyone for the comments so far. I went ahead and ordered a custom built C450 for July Delivery, with the option to not take the car if the C43 is drastically different though. We'll see in the announcements!

I posted this over in the general AMG 450 thread, but seems more appropriate here..
looks like we might get some more detailed insight in a week or so..
looks like we might get some more detailed insight into exactly what is going to be in the C43 versions soon..
geneva premier of the C43 coupe first week of march.. these guys are saying there might be a chance the BT6 gets 401ps from 367ps.. I doubt the sedan will get that upgrade for the 2017 model

I went back a little further and grabbed a C400 with 11k miles. Here's my reasons.
1. I saved about $17,000.
2. I don't like the little exhaust pops. Sorry, but they sound like wet farts to me.
3. It's the same engine and seems to be the same 0-60 time. Basically anything under 5 seconds is fast enough for me.
Cons:
I do like the styling details such as the grill and red stitching.
9 speed is probably much smoother.

Nice! I agree fully on the relative merits of the 400 vs the 450/43. Sometimes you want the power and smoothness without the ruckus. MB understood this philosophy in the S600, which is a very understated, almost plain sedan with a twin turbo V12. Not quite the beast an S65 is, but close.
I'm pretty sure when the lease on my C300 is up I'll be hunting down a C400 with AirMatic myself. Congrats!

So basically I bought a C450 for the savings over the nearly identical C43.

Tobia Moers doesnt consider the C43 to be a TRUE AMG. He was very reluctant in considering it as a TRUE AMG as you can see in his uneasiness of answering the question of which during an interview:
