Another Problem with the C450

Need to vent. Went to start the car at lunch and no command screen. Drove it straight to the dealer and now they have it. I haven't had this car for two weeks and it's one problem after another. First the rattle in the headliner, then the vibrating mirror (still vibrates after the replacement although not as much) and now this. I've put more miles on the three loaner cars than I have on mine. I guess that might be good thing, although I don't care for the E class 250D and E 350 I now have.

Anybody else have this problem? Service guy, who is now on a first name basis, said it might be some type of software updated needed.

Overall not impressed with the reliability of my first MB.

This is tragic. I have 1700 near flawless miles. It must have been bass fishing season in Vance when yours was built. I'm really sorry.

I feel your pain. I recently sent in my car for service with a laundry list of issues. Hopefully I'll receive an update tomorrow about my car, but expecting for it to be at the dealer for longer than a week in total.

I do love this car and I think MB has winner. They just need to work out the bugs. Hopefully this will be the last issue. I'll find out tomorrow what the problem was and post it on here.

This happened to my C300 about 4 months into ownership....command screen didn't come on when I started her up one morning. Shut it down, restarted and it came right back up - hasn't happened again in the past 8 months so chalking it up to just a glitch.

I guess I got lucky, my C450 is pretty much flawless (aside from the slow to accelerate while decelerating problem and slight misalignment with the front bumper/hood/fender area) I have 2199 miles on mine as of tonight and I took delivery of the very first batch of C450s off the mill in September of 2015. I thought I was gonna take a gamble with an early buggy car but I still have my fingers crossed!

Got the car back today. It wasn't a software issue, they had to replace the entire unit. Oh well, hopefully this is the last issue.

I had this exact problem once but a later shut dos and restart had it back and running again.. Hasn't happened again since. Let us know what they find and let them know it isn't an isolated incident.

That is how mine started. Within a week it stopped working altogether. They had to replace the entire unit. They did mention that they have seen this problem before and usually a software update is needed. Not the case with mine.

What was the resolution to the vibrating mirror? I have the same issue, only seems to happen at 60+ mph.

They replaced the mirror. It didn't solve the problem but decreased the vibration somewhat. I think more forgiving sidewall tires would help.

Here we go again....

Damn screen went out again. Car is at the dealership for the forth time in three weeks of ownership. Talked to the General Manager about possible buy back. He said that is an option. I'll give it one more chance and if something else jacks up....I'll unload it.

The real question here is.... how did you get a loaner on such short notice? My dealer needs like 2 weeks notice!

My screen actually didn't turn on the other day. Restarted the car and it came back on.

That is how my screen started.

The dealership has been awesome, that is why I would buy from them again. They really work hard to take care of their customers. I talked to the guy that does loaners and he said he has over 60 vehicle to loan out.

I spoke too soon! Backing up today and screen was working fine - all of the sudden while viewing the backup camera the screen started to glitch out, was a bunch of lines, then went black. Shut the car down, restarted and nothing - still black. Had to restart the car three times then it came back up. I'm thinking something's wrong with it and it's just a matter of time before it goes for good.

The good news is that when the screen goes out and even if it comes back on again, the dealership can see the fault and know there's a problem.

Thanks, that's good to know. I'll have to bring it in so they can check it out.
