Trunk Net - how the .... Does it work

I must of did to many drugs when I was younger, but I'm so lost how this trunk net is supposed to work. Even the instruction book doesn't show the exact hook locations.
I see the metal rings on the floor, but I don't see where the other latches hook to.

HELP...

Put the rear seats down, and you'll find the other two rings under the carpet.

AH. So the net lays down flat? I thought it was upright. That's what I get for thinking.

I bought the optional envelope net that attaches to the rear most part of the trunk (near the opening) and I'm very happy with it. I've never taken the included flat net out of the package.

I leave the flat net attached all of the time and just slide objects (usually groceries in relatively small quantities) under the net. Works great. Keeps everything from sliding around.

I know when I had my 2010 M3 Coupe, it came with a trunk net, but not the envelope kind that I was used to. I think the german vehicles trunk net is only to be used flat on the floor. Not at the rear wall of the trunk between the lights.
