New wheels, what size for S205 4Matic?

Hi guys,

It's soon time for spring, and I need to get a new set of wheels for the summer. I'm using the OEM 18" AMG wheels as the winter-setup.
I was thinking 19" cause I think that looks good enough with a little drop. And I drive quite a lot, so still need som comfort to it :roll eyes:

Since I have 4matic I'm kinda scared for the wheel size. I now have 225/45-18 in the fronts and 245/40-18 in the back, thats standard from the factory.
I think I wanna go with 8,5" in the front and 9,5" in the rear with the new rims. What tire size would you recommend, and what offset would look good? Would ET35 in the front and ET40 in the rear work and look good?

Heres a quick photoshoped picture of my car with what I think will be the look for the summer.
The offset is pretty ****ty on the W205/S205, many of the rims I like is just offered in lower ET.

And could somebody please explain to me, why the 4matic has 245 in the rear instead of 255 like the RWD have?
For example, the difference in circumference between a 225/40-19 in the front and 245/35-19 in the rear is bigger then if it would have a 255/35-19 in the rear.

The circumference is 1,35% larger in the front with the OEM setup for 4matic. And with the OEM setup for RWD the circumference is only 0,3% larger in the front.

Just doesn't make sense for me, I always thought that its better to have as close circumference as possible between rear and fronts with 4wd (off course not for all cars)
So does anybody know why this is? And what kinda tolerance there is to play with?

If i would go say 235/40-19 and 265/35-19. There would only be a difference of 0,44%. Is that okay?

I was going for them but the offsets are way off, however the 20" sport wheels from the new E-Class with the same spoke design is a perfect fit.

I would suggest that you consult the following website and plug in the tire/wheel specs to see if they will fit your S205: www.tiresize.com and click on "wheel offset calculator".
