With a C300 already, waiting seems like a good plan. That said, the C450 7G was tuned by AMG for quicker shifts, at least in Sport+ mode, so it isn't quite as slow shifting as yours.

C450
It's a pretty good bet the 2017 C43 sedan is going to get the 9 speed, the big brother GLC43 is getting it.. http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1...york-auto-show

The base model GLC has a 9 speed also. I am happy though that they've finally put some power in their small SUV, people pined for an AMG GLK for years.

Looks like the E43 is also getting the 9G, I'm sure the C43 sedan will be getting it also. That stinks...wish I actually waited..although I would not have mind the diff of a 7G and 9G transmission, I only mind in this case because the only problem I noticed about the C450 is the transmission's sluggishness at times of rapidly reaccelerating after deceleration.

2017 C43 sedan
The GLC has the 9g now...the new models and the face lifts are getting the 9g's also... BUT the C sedan is not a facelift yet so they may not change it for 2016... We won't know for sure till we hear from MB...

There is 3 to 4 more selling months on C450, MB's lips are sealed until Aug to avoid impacting C450 sales.

So, in that case do you think it more likely to have the 9g rather than the 7g?

Ordering opens before August, you think they are going to take orders on a car that has no details released?

Never mind the gearbox - I'm wondering whether they are going to slap a great big fat AMG badge on the trunk lid like what they're doing with the coupe. Won't that throw the anti-badge brigade into turmoil

I don't think that's a question in anyone's mind? Of course it will be badged the same as the Coupe we've already seen.

7g. Regardless, I don't think 2 more cogs adds much to this already quite powerful car.

I ordered my C450 back in May 2015 before full details. Heck, my car arrived even before they started introducing night packages

I said no details, not full details.

When you ordered in May, did you know the transmission type and horsepower/torque figures?

I did actually, I pre-ordered the day after they released their press release. I remember going into several MB dealerships looking for a C400 but no one had any and no special orders couldve been placed.

From a poster on another thread it looks definitively now to be 9G for the C43 sedan.

C450, GLC43
The UK config has the grey matte paint color available. I am now officially jealous of all our UK members. I love matte finishes and was a little disappointed that we could not config a c450 in any matte finish color.

It is likely the entire C class will get a mid-generation refresh at some point soon - 2018 has been thrown around but not guaranteed. The C43 should be included in that. Other than the headlight/bumper shots that have been posted here, we don't know what is in the refresh, but rear end and infotainment are often included in these types of things.

So, dropping in the 9G transmission must be a very simple update for it to be included in the 2017 model?

Damn, really?! That's a huge bummer, I really like that color...I just can't continue to wait around for the C43 to come out, but this definitely makes me want to.

It's already configured to work with the 450/43 motor in the C43 Coupe, Cab and SLC, so the tuning and programming is ready. As long as it fits (which it obviously does) should be close to plug-and-play.

I see the C43 Sedan on the UK site also offers an upgrade for the AMG performance exhaust as an upgrade...wonder if this is different than the C450 exhaust, or if it's just an upcharged add on now?

Great catch. If they are sticking with the standard MB terminology, I believe the standard C450 exhaust is the "AMG Sport Exhaust" and the "Performance Exhaust" is the optional exhaust available on the C63. So, it is possible, at least in Europe, that there is the optional selectable exhaust.

EDIT: Just checked and the C43 Coupe preliminary info lists the Performance Exhaust as a stand-alone option, so good chance it is coming across the C43 line.
