Interesting issue with COMAND and iPod...
I listened to some tunes on the iPod last Saturday morning and then switched back to the (Sirius) radio. On Monday, I wanted to listen to some tunes on the iPod again, but when I switched to "Media" in the COMAND system, the music did not begin playing. The screen had all the normal info on it: album art, song title. playback time, etc. However, the cursor in the playback bar was not moving. I tried fast forwarding to another song and the screen updated, but still no music.
I tried a number of things: plugging the iPod into the other USB port, restarting COMAND, changing the USB cable, all to no avail. I even took the iPod into the house and re-synced it with iTunes. No luck.
I hated the thought of having to take the vehicle back to the dealer for such a niggly little thing, so I continued troubleshooting. I noticed that when I clicked the "Play" icon in COMAND, the "Play" icon at the top of the iPod screen came up, but still no sound. The iPod played just fine when it was not connected to the vehicle, and also when docked in my tabletop radio. Undaunted, I finally plugged the iPod back into iTunes and did a complete restore. It took a while for all my music to reload, but I figured if this didn't work, it was off to the M-B dealer.
I plugged the iPod back into the vehicle this morning and bingo! The music played just fine. So, somehow the software in the iPod got whacked and just wouldn't respond to the "Play" command from...well, COMAND.
So, just in case anyone runs into this issue, try restoring the iPod first before you do anything else.
Also, my next move is just to load up my tunes on an SD card and use that instead.....

By the way, the iPod is still playing just fine in the car :-)
