Custom iPhone EQ For Burmester
The physics of the Burmester...a bunch of 4" midrange/tweeters, no conventional woofers, two 8" shallow mount subs in the footwells and three more 4" mids for the center dash and two rear surrounds... is very midrange biased. The footwell subs also have to pull double duty as conventional subs plus play up well into the mid bass range. When driven hard, and I want to feel the kick drum, they tend to get loose and boomy in the midbass range. Dial the sloppiness out by reducing the volume and/or bass emphasis and all the power goes out the window with it. Ah, First World Problems. The mids also tend to get shrill and brassy when pushed.
It's not possible to mitigate all issues caused by the configuration of the speaker arrays and the environment, but some equalization can work miracles and really improve the listening experience.
The app is EQu by Elephant Candy. $4.99 and worth ten times that. EQu becomes your audio player while it's on, accessing your local music library on your iPhone. Files must be resident on the phone, no Apple Match or streaming.
If you connect via BT audio, you can use COMAND to skip tracks as you normally would. Here's the curve. Duplicate it by touching the line to create a control point, then drag the points to create the curve.
In settings (gear) set the headroom to Safe to start. If you want more gain (power) set it to Loud. Swiping up will raise the entire curve, increasing volume. On COMAND set BT audio to Boost.
On COMAND the Equalization is set to Treble 7, Mid -10 Bass 10, Surround is On and All Seats. Fader and Balance 0. Give it a try and let me know what you think or if you have any problems setting it up.
You can save your curves in the app if you want to experiment.

i will agree that the sound quality is great with the custom EQ, no doubt about it, but the lack of support and quality of the app is very disappointing

shame i wasted the $5 on the app and another $3 for the internet radio version which didnt even utilize Apple Music like they advertised (complained to them and got no response) and now Apple Music is dead unless you pay for that as well.
Gave them a crap review, well deserved in my opinion.
I'm not aware of any app that Apple allows to access the streaming raw files, which is where EQ would need to be applied. But the internal EQ on the device (Settings>Music>EQ) will work on Apple Music. I like the Rock or R&B presets for the Burmester. For anyone else trying this, make sure the free demo version works before upgrading.
