New E class - C Class
E class is finally there. Many people say it looks too much like a C class. I really was looking out for it. The exterior is amazing and it's a large car in person. However after sitting in it I was less stunned than I thought I would be. Maybe because the C class already has this amazing design and tech. So it's less of an upgrade if you go from C to E than for example from 5 series to new E Class.
Afterwards when I came back to my C class and sat behind the steering wheel I noticed a whole different feeling. The interior of the E class is a bit angular, where as the C class has more curves. I feel more "one with the car" in the C class.
I do like the integrated display and the fact that there is more space and tech in the E (64 different colors of ambient lighting). I don't like the touchpads on the steering wheel. Like the buttons in the C class better

Probably in 2018 the C class facelift will be released. With probably a integrated display!
that's exactly the kind of uniqueness i'd look for on a luxury car. don't get me wrong the w205 is miles above the rest. now if only the C was available with that dashboard panel i'd **** myself.
but alas, we ain't even getting apple carplay, who am I kidding?

I much prefer real gauges vs electronic pictures of gauges. IMHO of course.

I sat in the new E at the NYIAS and it really was a quality car, everything felt solid, I loved the new Comand system as well as the different themes (Sport/Progressive) and actually liked the touchpads on the steering wheel once I figured out how to best use them.
In pictures I thought the headlight graphics look unresolved but in real life it actually looks like the next evolution of the current E headlamp system.
I also sat in the new C coupe which had an a$$ that sat higher than a 80s model and made it impossible to see out the back of. Seriously there was maybe 4 inches of window between the rear deck and the top of the rear windscreen when looking in the rear view mirror.

Yeah, WOW! I can't believe how Craptacular that looks!
Even the digital dash looks like something which should have appeared back in the 90's. With so much screen tech around these days that has zero bezel or curved OLED displays, I'm amazed they are still going to use these super ugly screens for their most advanced car.
I mean, no question, what is running on the screens is slick as - but design wise this is without a doubt the worst digital dash in the market.
Hey, I used to have that exact same sig pic!

MB's decision to celebrate the naked rectangle of its screens rather than design them into the dash was a bold move and freed up their designers to do other cool stuff with the dash...look how cool the C dash is running flat from the gauge binnacle to the passenger side...but I'm not loving it in the E.
Worse, if you go for the analog cluster in the E it now looks like it's a half inch thick and glued onto a massive piece of cheap black plastic. No good option.
I'm looking at an E43 to replace my C400 if I stay with Mercedes.. There are other cars I'm considering at this point though, my C400 hasn't been all roses, it has been in the shop too many times for things that shouldn't even register as an issue
hahaha
true.
with that said, the cluster on the E class at least stays competitive with the rest (audi)
