My C300 "farts" in Sport+ mode. Why?

Quote: Yes I know that but I'm not a fan of the way it changes gears as it feels like it chokes when it shifts. I feel sport mode shifts faster & smother than sport+. To me the only benefit for sport+ mode is the pop sound.
Yeah I find Sport strikes a nice balance between giving you access to the torquiest part of the powerband and less spastic gear changes. It's different on a 450...that engine sounds so good you want to hear it working. The T4 not so much.

If air box why would you hear it at the exhaust?!? Nonsense.

Quote: That noise is not un-burnt fuel in the exhaust. Its the blow off valve from the turbo venting into the airbox. If you vented it to atmosphere, it would make a "PSSSHHHHH" noise, that I assume Mercedes didnt want in a non-sports car, so they vented it back to the airbox to quiet the sound.
incorrect. both of my old gti's farted as well. its programmed to overfuel during shifts in sport plus. on top gear once Clarkson talked about it in regards to the the Audi RS5 too

Got numbers?
Quote: Has anyone seen any performance figures that prove that Sport+ is actually faster than Sport?
I was hoping for some quarter mile times that would close this issue. Anyway, any driver who wants to be seen as the driver of a hot car should aim higher than a C300. Farts are not going to help. The farts of a C300 are so mild that few other drivers are going to hear them. Born To Be Mild!

Honestly nobody on the road can tell the difference between a C450, a C300, or a C400. They're all just small Mercedes sedans to the driving public. You could probably toss the CLA in there too. If being seen in a "hot" car is a priority find a nice CPO CL or SL with an AMG package. Way sexier.

They certainly can't tell what my Mercedes is. It's de-badged!

Performance theater
Performance theater - the car doesn't go any faster. The fart sounds are just a memory of the defects of obsolete carburation technology. The irony is that that the car enthusiasts who would otherwise be most likely to be impressed are too young to remember when this is what hot cars did. "Why is that car doing that?" "Is there something wrong with it?" Mike5215 has it right. If you want people to see you as the driver of a hot car, buy a hot car.

I have a 2015 & 2016. 15 pops, 16 does not (wife's car so no problem).

Personally, I like the pop and any time I go for service am always worried that they'll reflash my 15 and I'll lose it.

Just get them to install the software which starts playing this as soon as you put the car into Sports+

Ignore post, because my response was meant for another thread discussing an acceleration issue.
