mine chatters like crazy.. and it didnt do that when I first got it.
I should take it in some time.
my W204 used to do that and dealer had to adjust the angle of the arms.

Mine are fine, but they do make a jarring screech when they turn on. They work as advertised and I have them in the auto mode. Also, they have scared the S out of me when they just randomly turn on due to a few droplets of water hitting it lol.

Update:
Took the car in to get this addressed. They used some sort of solvent to clean a film from the windshield. Our service writer explained that he believes the root cause is excess paint sealant applied at the factory adheres to the windshield and causes the blades to chatter.

Mine have been working perferctly also, and we have a lot of rain, snow and ice in Norway.
But my car is parked in a garage, and thus shielded from direct sunlight in the summer, I bet this affects the rubber in the wipers (juddering, squeaking).
Also I don't use Rain-X etc.

brought it in. they replaced my blades and used this mercedes compound that is allegedly supposed to make the windshield how it was when it came out of the factory. they gave it back to me, and i said i want to test it. I drove it into the garage and hit auto and the mechanic sprayed water on the windshield. it still skipped a little bit, and it is not silent. Nothing else i can really do, he said the wiper arm angle was spot on, he's an amg master certified technician so i trust him. Funny enough he suggested rain-x..if im not happy with how it is after i drive it through the rain next, i guess ill have to resort back to rain-x

Hi have you managed to sort out your fault. I have the same issue with my wipers. In pouring rain the first auto setting does not come on at all. The second auto wipe setting gives me 1 wipe after a few minutes of really heavy rain. Please let me know if you have sorted yours and what the issue was.

No complaints with the auto setting on mine, just wish the high setting was a little faster.
Got caught in a heavy downpour last night & was visibility limited to about 55mph, wipers couldn't keep up.
Not the same, but had the same complaint in my W123 & W126, wipers not fast enough on high.

My wipers chattered and smeared with the original windshield from the factory. I got it replaced due to a nasty rock chip and the wiper chatter is now gone...same set of blades....maybe there is a coat of wax or something that the VPC places over the windshield during shipping that needs to be removed? After the windshield was replaced my sensor was being weird and not catching up to the volume of rain but it seems to have gone away now and works great.

After getting my windshield replaced....all was good until I used one of those gas station windshield squeegee cleaners and it started chattering again, although, not as bad as as the old windshield. These blades must be super sensitive to any sort of coating over the glass.
