Ssssh.. Dynamat Extreme vs the MB matting
ie an already soundprooofed section, using the beter ?Dynamat..
This will be for rear wheel arches, under bench seat, truck floor etc.. S205
In these area's there are existing measures but they are questionable in their effectiveness..
Thanks in advance for anyone with direct experience on this..
i may even remove the fabric matting, out oon the dynamat and stick the fabric on top where it fits etc..
Quit it will you.. I don't have 1500bucks for tyres tight now

I'm ordering the dynamat though...
My dealership is going to free issue me a bunch of spare clips in case of breakages... For door cards..
I'll be adding felt adhesive along door cards led strips, silicone sealant if necessary, dynamat to the usual surface and the factory NVH pads on top where possible... Spray adhesive..
I'll do pics it'll be end June...
This was 5 or 6 years ago. Maybe Michelin changed the tread pattern to make it quieter? (Thinking ahead for when my OEM Conti's wear out. . . )

6 sheets a cross the rear door, S205 remember, here I t was on the inside of the other skin where access holes existed, onto the plastic trim panels upper and lower, the middle one is covered in soft fabric sound mat...
Also added adhesive foam to the body adjacent to the trim panels to prevent rattles.... Result... It all sounds much more solid... Previously moveable panels are now solid... And the outer skin Has lost some drumming...
In the back, removed rear side trims, rear door lip panel lower, boot floor front and rear panels, liner, plastic support trims, EPS foam infill bar, removed the burmester amp assembly and all soft foam blocks... Covered almost every available surface.... Replaced all foam blocks and panels... More could be added behind the side panels but I question any further value.... Biggest difference here seems to be the plastic boot floor, but the whole area is just solid sounding now.. Before it was tinny and drummy (are those even words??)
Last spot was under HR rear seat bench and rear susp. Towers... Bench lower and side bolsters removed.. Again everything covered (acknowledge a sheet covers the fuel cell pump access panel here, I accept the sheet will be cut IF in my ownership access is needed..for now don't care...)
Again this one was noticeable.. Especially around the tank access port area and rear towers...
All in and combined there is a clear and noticeable improvement to exhaust, road noise and tyre noise in the back of the car... And that's with magnaflow straight through mufflers...
Schedule a day to do this, I was 6 hours start to finish....
The doors will be next, but it's in for its first service and a load of correction work this week...
Oh and the door squeak fixed work a treat... Highly recommended....

And I will have it another 2 year at least...
I took some dB readings before the mod, I'll take some afters when it returns from the dealers...
I did notice in the c200 loan car that it was quite smooth and tight as a drum.. The door cards are night and day different... Rock solid... So clearly early ones were ****....
Only change for me would be IF a CLA45 shooting brake with an all new interior comes out.... I'd have the current one but the interior is woeful...

Tirerack has all 4 tires for less than 900 bucks..
I did the b pillars... Small improvement around the head.. A few decent appetures in there to cover too.. Shoved some foam in also...
And I wet sanded and fully corrected, polished and jewelled the whole car.. Which took an age.. 50hrs.. Came up good though...
It was back at the dealers with more faults on the stereo camera assy too...
Every addition is a small improvement though... So I don't expect a major change from now... I have 2 sheet left so likely will apply to rear of door skin as I don't have enough left to later in the outer skin and the plastic inner skin...
Did you place dynamat in the B Pillar? If so, may I ask why? I wasn't expecting to need a vibration dampener in that area?
I'm looking at using CLD Tiles + MLV sheet + CCF + hydrophobic melamine foam. I just don't want to dampen too much, need to hear the C63

Mainly want to focus on doors + B Pillar + maybe floors/rear seats.
No adhesive you shove it in the appetures it can't go anywhere....

Not in the B pillar, on the inner face of it covering the pressed appetures, small one t the very top and two more lower down. Also on the rear of the seat belt sliding adjuster cover as it sounds plasticky , more solid afterwards..

Your call, i just dynamatted the rear hatch door inner and outer skins, rear door plastic trims, wheel well, trunk floor and sides, the rear inner wings, susp, towers and under the rear bench seat... I have the S205 so the air volume is greater, hence the drumming can be worse.. i still hear the magnaflows when you press on..
Doors to follow.. again just dynamat extreme...

All the best..
I want to apply dynamat on all doors and what you did on the rear trunk and bench as well.
Could you send me more info in detail about the work done on your car to make it quieter and ride smoother AND get rid of the rattles??
Please sir, I'm trying to perfect the car to my standards.
