2016 Mercedes C300 Sport
Picked up the Dinan unit yesterday on the way home from work and installed it on the car in about 5 minutes. Spent more time trying to figure out where I wanted to ZIP tie the thing then the actual install which probably took all of 30 seconds.
Proceeded to install the Android app on an old phone as the iPhone app isnt out yet apparently. Went on a short cruise with it and played with some of the settings which was kind of fun. The app is a bit clunky but it serves its purpose and the boost gauge feature is a nice little addition although I don't see myself really ever using it. It's a cool little add though. Its obvious the thing is giving more power and I caught myself smirking a bit as I laid into the throttle. I didn't notice any negatives to the actual driving experience, a la jerkiness or throttle/turbo lag, but then again my time putzing around was pretty minimal. I can say though that it was just more fun. Probably my imagination but the throttle response seems to be significantly more responsive as well. Definitely feel more at home in the wife's car with the extra power with the Dinan unit.
I didn't tell the wife about installing the thing so I will see if she says anything when I see her again tonight... left it in the max setting for maximum potential enjoyment. She tends to complain about my cars so its a bit of a blind test to see if she just likes *****ing about me spending money or if she actually is that sensitive/afraid of more power.
All in all I can't complain and I can say I definitely feel it was worth the cheap cost of entry. Would recommend as an alternative to what already is out there. Makes the Merc enjoyable for me and I suppose that is all that matters. My only real gripe is the lack of the iOS app from a convenience stand point but if its in the pipeline I suppose that's just me nit picking.

yeah i did pain in the butt to figure out, i had to take a screwdriver and push out the white tab and then shove the screwdriver under this super small black tab opposite side and lift it up (pry it up but not too much force or you'll break the thing) which allowed me to disconnect it. Took 20 minutes to figure out. The Dinan tune though is 100% legit Basically comfort mode is now sport mode. Not a PLACEBO affect. Throttle response hell of a lot responsive.

I agree, the Dinan Tune is great. It is a very basic approach of just modifying boost psi, but it works!!
You can feel the pull from down low now, and it performed awesome at the track 2 weeks ago. Night and day lap times with it installed.

I did have it throw a cel it went into limp mode no boost. Turned it off and back on and boost was back. I got a scanner and cleared it and no issues since. I also reset the auto learn transmission. That helped a lot

Im curious what procedure you used to reset the transmission. I have used the common method posted online (key on pre-ignition, 10 second throttle all the way, key off, remove foot from throttle and wait 2 minutes) but I haven't noticed any difference in shifting or performance. Am I doing it wrong for the new models maybe?

No I did not leave the key in the car. From all the times I've done this on my old w204 and now my w205 I've had best luck with it working when I left the car overnight after doing it. I have had it where it seemed it didn't do the reset the way I can tell it works is when I'm in comfort from reset shift points it has higher rpms at shifts.

Do you know any numbers of how much your lap times improved with Dinan installed?
#191
not sure if any of us have determined dyno and/or lap time improvements with the Dinan unit?. perhaps, but I would doubt it. Honestly for $300 there is a decent performance gain to be had from their tune, so why not install it?
heck it would cost half the unit price to dyno the car at most places, lap times "might" improve ever so slightly but its the overall "feel" of the car being more crisp and effortless which is what we're really trying to accomplish here, atleast for me

Any updates with your OE Tunes?
I decided to go with Weistec and dropped off the ECU with them yesterday. Planning to pick it up today along with the downpipe.
Will report back in a few weeks when I install it.

I actually purchased a RaceChip ultimate but I am having second thoughts about it now since the installation seems to be a tad more than I expected. You basically have to remove the ECU and plug in to the intake pressure sensor. Not sure if I will try to install it, or return it and lose 20% restocking fee (even if it is unopened :/). If anyone is interested I would be happy to sell it to them for $550 incl. shipping.

2nd Dyno still showed maybe 10+ HP Gain this is after i sent my ECU back for retune. car does feel bit zippy but not 60HP as OE Claims.
I suggest going with Dinan piggyback

wow that sucks in terms of what you have gotten. Dinan definitely has it cornered on power to $ ratio I would say

For the Dinan chip, can anyone tell me which sensor is needed to hook into it for the C300? Is it the sensor that you can easily disconnect (next to the ECU but on top of the engine) or is it the sensor where you have to remove the ECU and the air filter just to get to?

its the boost pressure near the top, easily accessible .

OE Tuning
I am heading down to Huntington to OE to have my '16 C300 4Matic tuned this Friday. Will update when it's all said and done. I have high hopes for this. I really think it's the best option, dollar for dollar seeing as it works they way they say it should.

I also agree with Tartan43 and Nardoswiss. Car definitely has more responsiveness and zip to it in the mid range. Especially when upshifting, I can feel a strong push of power going into the next gear when flooring it.
Not sure how many miles I put on my car since I got it tuned by OE, but I got it tuned back in September and I put around 350 miles on it per week, so I'm estimating around 2.8K miles over a 2 month span?
